So technically, as I understand it from the articles, this might not have been a door in place, but a place where some airlines with denser seating configurations have a door (some of you will be able to describe this better). Thankfully this was right after take off, so the plane was only at 16,000 feet, so everyone's seatbelts were still fastened and no people were su-ked out of the plane. A teenager had his shirt su-ked off and out, and according to some reports, some passengers' cell phones went out too. This is not good... sorta sub-optimal here: https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2024/01/scary-incident-forces-alaska-airlines-flight-back-to-pdx.html

CEO admits it was a Boeing mistake and they will do much better in the future. So buy Boeing stock as it will go up to $500 per share.
GE angels of dearth have been and still are, destroying companies across America. Look what they've done to Honeywell, too.
Calhoun another reject from General Electrics failed management system. All aviation companies seems to share these mo--ns. Thanks corporate America!
David Calhoun doesn't fly on Boeing jets either. Can't imagine why...
David Calhoun should be fired and given no golden parachute. Probably too busy flying back and forth from all his private homes on Boeing paid jets. Name one thing positive Calhoun has done for Boeing.
Hmmm…I left my ratchet down the bay. Too far to get it. Finger tight will have to do.
Here we go "United Airlines inspections find loose bolts on several Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft after grounding"
What else is loose???

I am sure Boeing's stock hawkers are already writing how this is just a minor speed bump and Boeing stock will rise to $500/share before too long.
Sure hard to understand how a company can stay in business when every single project they have done in the last 20 years has lost billions of dollars and every single airplane that they now deliver is at a double-digit negative profit. But I am just an engineer and not an accountant with a MBA.
I am waiting to hear about their new airplane development that won't need any engines because it will have flapping wings... Sort of like their uncertifable 777X folding wing tip design which has now been in development for 15 years.
Boeing "Frankenmax" strikes again!

What I'm waiting to hear about is why the two seats right next to the blow out were empty. Seems like an unlikely coincidence and Alaska new there was a problem with the door plug...
After listening to the captain, this could be a DEI issue. Some instruments on the plane were saying the plane was having a pressurization issue. Isn't captain supposed to have final say whether plane is flightworthy?
Yup. Operator Error by the clowns in mgmt to keep cutting cost and did this stupid Max based in a 1960 classic 737 design, by doing an amended STC (shaved cert effort and a ton of cash). Basically schemed their way into grandfathering as much as possible
I had already told all my extended families and friends to NOT fly on this piece of cr_p since those fatal crashes. I just reminded them again don't ever fly on this.
Give me 737NG or A32x any day over this. Seriously your life is at risk...
Is it possible this was operator error?
Another reason to fasten your seat belt from the time you board the airplane until you exit. Keep it loose, but on. Also, bring a rosary with you if the plane is a Boeing.
If it's a boeing I'm definitely not going
That pretty much settles it.
Aisle seats only.
Friends don't let friends fly Boeing :-)
What if you were flying to Hawaii and half way over the ocean when this happened?
DEI, should be changed to D I E
This likely won't be the last Boeing poor design/manufacturing issue given the deep descent of their workforce and product quality. So it's likely only a matter of time until more lives are lost.
Boeing constantly padding politicians hands to get around about everything has to end. Human lives seem to mean nothing to these corporate elite and stockholders.
I thought I had read in one of the articles (perhaps the first WSJ and Seattle Times articles this morning) that the plane was delivered to Alaska Airlines on October 31, went into service on November 5, and had like 145 take off and landing cycles.
It’s only a matter of time !! Until another big one . Boeing’s quality, standards, passion to build, Management, lack of skilled , lack of English speaking is going down or gone !!
Any new hires break with in weeks…then go on light duty, Seniors are so fcking done w/Mgr’s , leads and personnel. No one cares anymore. Boeing is scheduled driven..NOT quality driven.
The factory is ran by clowns and monkeys what do you expect?
I'm not surprised you have to see who's building these planes they can't even speak English 😒 🙄
8 cycles
If this is new airplane, this is a design or manufacturing defect. I am not surprised given that Boeing, from the top leadership to the workers on the floor, don't have the requisite competence to even be in the aerospace industry. I am surprised that the FAA didn't rescind Boeing's manufacturing certificate long ago. But I suppose this can be explained by Boeing's headquarters now being in DC making lobbying (i.e., bribes) much easier than even before the two 737MAX profit over human life events.
That’s nothing a little plastic and duct tape couldn’t fix! The plane is only 3 months old so it’s probably still under warranty.
I'm interested to know how many cycles this bird had.
I'll bet the supplier Spirit AeroSystems is going over their process for monitoring quality and getting ready to write a big check.
