Thread regarding NuVasive Inc. layoffs

Globus cut almost all the NuVasive staff today

They had a round of layoffs that gutted the San Diego office that was previously NuVasive HQ. Almost all of their surgical intelligence team was let go today, including software among other departments.

I wonder if they also laid off the good payroll people at NuVa recently. With their company value, I thought they at least would try to retain people that are good with money. But looks like they are getting doomed.

This place is a circus! Full of clowns that are led by slimy ringleaders. Those layed off are lucky but it was done in a slimy way. The GMED leaders are not that smart. The decisions are always about money and shareholders, mainly King David. I wasn’t part of the layoff, but wish I was. Now, those people that were layed off cannot work in the industry for 12 months because of the non compete that they remind you of often. The constant threat of legal action is a disgrace. Get out voluntarily is the key. Better to find a job with a job and most of us are looking.

It’s amazing how useless HR is. They advocate for mid management and not the actual employees. The company promotes bullies as managers/directors and protects them. The company chased away great new colleagues from the merger/acquisition. The words of the founder/executives have little to no value. It’s a company based off lies. Whether you were part of the layoff (one of the two with a third one to come) or quit, consider yourself fortunate to not have to deal with the toxic environment, a toxic INR Director, toxic joke of a manager and another other toxic piece of trash there!

It’s funny how you layoff Nuvasive employees, but keep Globus employees that DO NOT know the fundamentals of Payroll nor accounting…

There was just another round of lay-offs right after the July 4th holiday targeting of course remaining NuVa people. I liked the fact that two weeks ago the VP said in a group call that my job is essential to the company and yesterday he said you need to go. Globus has only surprised their employees with worse stuff they can do. Everything is about how to make money fast and micromanaging.

I hope more layoffs are coming! The toxicity of the management and “untouchables” in leadership are making dangerous assumptions for the business. Cutting corners and mistreating employees. The Nuva people that were unlucky enough to hang around really got sc--wed!

It’s great that the supply chain group is led by spiteful people. They keep asking where the negative postings are coming from but everyone keeps playing d-mb lol. The managers are pretending to be our friends but the joke is on them as they try to figure it all out. It’s fun to watch them huddle up then come out of the office and chat us up. Team building, right? Staff will come and go, nobody in their right mind will stay unless our stock options are close, then we bail. Good run on the stock and will take our money and run.

The beginning of each month is the worst of an already bad environment. Disgusted with the treatment of everyone by loser managers, directors and VP’s gives no hope of my progress. The integration of Nuva is amazingly bad and the “smarter than everyone” GMed people are playing it off like it’s not a big deal. The ship is sinking fast! Nuva was acquired to make the company look strong when it’s falling apart at the sales level. The company is garbage, but I’ll just keep collecting a paycheck for now. I don’t care what happens because I’ve been treated terribly.

HR M!ke is the absolute worst! If you are talked to by him, say nothing. He is another one of the many managers that should never manage people. His ability to be as back handed as possible is second to none. Know that someone wants you out of the business. Don’t be good at what you do, at least better than your manager or he will pay you a visit with some made up stuff to tell you it just isn’t working out. Another lack of leadership to keep the churn of good people up to the terrible ways of GMed as a whole. Terrible liars!

Here we go again, another miserable beginning of the month is here in supply chain. Let’s see how many times we are insulted this month by these cut rate managers. The exodus has started because of the VP and his minions like to be the smartest people in the company. It shows how pathetic the supply chain leadership is by following along with each other. We know you have no respect for anyone. Know that there is a mutual lack of respect not only from y’all’s team, but other have caught on too. Smart people leave and lucky people get let go. Know that you’re pathetic and you’re not liked by anyone in the business. You may have short term success but will ultimately fail and we can’t wait to see that happen.

I drive a grey BMW and I think people like me, but I am wrong! The wakeup call will be real for your inability to treat people as people. You are a disgrace and so are your officemates. Everyone is looking to leave because of "y'alls" ignorant and childish ways. We cannot wait to get out of Globus and be treated like people again. Pathetic, but you won't believe it because you will just make us feel worse about ourselves and treat us like hot garbage. Hey, but you always have your happy hours.

Globus leadership has yet to tell any former NuVa employee anything positive about their hostile takeover. Rather, it is apparent that they are hoping we will all just leave on our own so that they don’t have to pay any more severance. A direct quote from the “Chief People Officer” (aka head of HR) this week: “No one is forcing you to work for Globus. No one is forcing to you accept a paycheck… If I didn’t want to be here, I would go get a job at Starbucks”.
It will be interesting when there are no NuVa people left and FDA comes for the rest of the Globus sites..

Find something better. Don’t waste your time here anymore. Pathetic leadership. From the top it’s a game of how can we suppress salaries, instill fear in our employees and lie to them openly. Managers are the worst and openy share how smart they are and belittle their staffs. Anyone there longer than 2 years is a part of the problem. Don’t trust anyone there. They pretend to like you and use anything they can get out of you against you.

Egos are huge! Communication is poor. Find another job, they will cut more staff and add more work to who stays. Managers come back from lunch moody and smelling of alcohol.

Going to join my co-workers and jump off this rapidly sinking ship. Received a new job offer and will be done soon.
Shout out to NUVA HR and the lady with extremely long eye lashes for successfully allowing Globus to steamroll the company and stab people in the back. You will be left with B and C talent shortly as nobody worth keeping will tolerate this nonsense.
I cannot imagine an employee still drinking the Kool-Aid but if you are wake the heck up. Even the legacy Globus teams does not want to be here.

Are these people for real? Managers that have zero ideas how to manage. I have never been part of a company that rewards incompetent managers. For a publicly traded company, they sure don’t want to invest in technology. Supply chain is full of egomaniacs and SO petty from a management perspective. I wish I would have been layed off at this point ugh!

Coming from Nuva and seeing how Globus works is like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Do people really talk to employees like this? No wonder the reviews are so bad, THEY’RE TRUE!
The planning and purchasing team continue to say, our systems are bad and coming from SAP, you’re taking steps backward and any question I ask, I am told, we don’t do things that way here. So confused and frustrated. I hope the Nuva boss that came over can hold it together. He doesn’t seem to fit with that culture.

The supply chain group at Globus will make the Nuva people d-mb. It is so poorly run and by childish Sr. managers that are so self centered and ignorant. The Sr Director is a weasel and “leads” by fear and intimidation. He is smarter than everyone, so he says out loud. Listen to him talk and you quickly realize he has no idea how to lead people. His subordinates are puppets that will do anything to carry the torch. Some really smart people that work well in the bigger org and with PD to share facts. Facts are not well received. Cannot share best practices because you’re too busy working in antiquated spreadsheets to run the business. Anyone from Nuva coming over, look for a new job, you will not fit in with this childish leadership. How can Sr Managers get away with cursing at people and saying they should know better and if not it’s bullsh-t. The integration will be really hard because the systems are terrible and Nuva people will have to take 10 steps back to learn the system. Any Nuva people “retained” will be let go by the end of Q1.

"As we've said before, this is not a slash-and-burn exercise. The acquisition payback is not driven by deep spending cuts, and we're not racing to impress the market with a quarterly flash. We remain focused on long-term sustained growth and not making cuts that impact our strengths."

Dear my feeble peasants,

You do not understand and get back to work now! I have dropped all the way to # 1,972 on the Forbes billionaire list and do not force me to pay more surgeons to increase the stock price.

Also leave our CEO alone as there is nothing wrong with taking showers with your father.

All hail the king!

Globus was started 20 years ago by a disgruntled engineer who used Synthes assets and stole IP (google it). Somehow and someway he got away with it and now he (David P.) is a dictator who toxically micromanages everyone and everything but pretends Scavilla is in charge (who is an unqualified finance guy from Synthes - total joke but easy person to control). Horrible culture, underpaid employees, and this hostile takeover of NuVasive will end badly just watch. Massive distributors have already left, dozens of others looking for the door, several distributors have found new homes
and will leave by the end of
Q1 2024, and most internal team members actively interviewing.
Globus completely gutted the NSO Orthopedic division a few months ago (that was a cash cow and massive potential) to cover up their failed Globus Trauma unit led by a incompetent VP and band of useless sales directors (ie. Globus no longer publicly discloses trauma financials - ask yourself why?). NSO had most of their most important ortho leaders refuse to join which will be devastating long term. Then just yesterday Globus dismantled 400+ (probably more as they left out the numbers to us employees) people on the spine side which will cost them millions more in revenue and eliminate any remaining trust or belief in the Globus company. Entire departments wiped out and zero preparation or plan to pick up the work or continue the mission. People told go away and put on a 60-day WARN notice due to Globus’e lack of planning while at the same time trying to pretend to the lucky survivors that Globus was taking care of those impacted (ie. WARN act is minimum 60-days so reality is Globus did bare minimum). Spoiler alert: this will end very badly for both companies, this was handled poorly, and this will do long term damage to the company. Absolutely disgusting behavior by Globus, I’m sad for everyone at NUVA, and I’m selling all my stock while it’s still worth something. To the NuVasive team, please keep your head up and the grass it absolutely greener when not working for Globus. Disaster is the only way to describe this.

I’m sales on Globus side and I can’t be more frustrated with how the merge was handled. I heard nothing from management for months. Let completely clueless as to what would happen. To remain anonymous I will keep this vague but combining territories has been very sloppy! My territory was basically handed to another rep while I wait for what is likely to be a complete slap in the face of a contract to come across my desk. The general sentiment among sales I hear is “they handled this very poorly”. That is coming from reps with anywhere from 5-20+ years experience. Sales team member are going to be looking for greener pastures. Customers are likely seeing the disorder, or at least sensing, it in my opinion.
