Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Is this correct?

Tech sales in International and the Americas will be reduced by 18% within the next 2 weeks

Can anybody confirm this?

So was this post

Fear mongering?

An attempt to bait real info?

Or did this leak postpone the inevitable?

We are just getting more salt rubbed into our wounds.

They've put one of the most boring people into the role as global head of data architecture. It's more enjoyable to watch dry. No way would we take him into any customer meetings.

So Monday 1/22 SKO starts, what happened to layoffs? 18% ? Anything happened?

So the layoffs start on 1/11? Guessing before SKO.

What would be funnier and sicker, would be for HA and JW to received bonus checks for each person they called up on stage to RIF.

Why not DURING SKO? Call people up on stage, and do it publicly. And then, as the grand finale, call HA and JW up on stage and publicly giving them the boot. THAT would be an SKO to remember!

I'm in tech sales (international region) and am hoping Im part of the 18%. I've seen too much change recently and it's not a positive work environment anymore.

I joined Teradata not because of the tech but because of the people. I had a great manager and things were so positive. But all that fell apart late last year and I don't hold any positivity for this year. I need to get out.

The razor gangs have gone after every back office function and we saw in October they start going after GTM teams like IE's.

So it would not surprise me that tech sales are due for a rif. If revenue is not growing and customers are leaving in droves then it's just a numbers game where they reduce the headcount in sales teams to match the customer base.

I think the 18% number that people have been talking about is certainly a reality and before SKO is a very real possibility as history shows.

Previously the % reduction was all hush hush, but now it's becoming the norm of talk amongst teams. A game of guessing who next.

Yes last year was the day before SKO. Poor bloke was selected because he was the oldest in the team. It was just very poor timing and I expect no different this year.

In DC the game will be trying to figure out who didn't make it. None of this gamifying through the app, just award points/prizes to those who can identify the most number of people who suffered a rif the day before SKO.

When is SKO this year?

People got RIF'd right before SKO last year. At least one guy I heard was let go and was already in Vancouver. Teradata even tried to seize their airplane tickets from the airline. Shady people.

Would they really make the cut before SKO? Or wait until after SKO? What was the timing of past sales January RIF?

Probably about right. During the rif on Halloween RP wanted big cuts for the international tech sales team but they were spared. But it's a temporary stay of execution. We've got large teams in the Nordics and Japan that I'm sure they will target.

Its only a matter of time here unfortunately and the cuts across tech sales are inevitable as revenue is stagnant.
