Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Let it be over

I was hoping we'd know what's going on by now. I envy those who can stop stressing but I'm not one of them. The longer this lasts the worse it is for me. Just get it over with so I know what to do. Just waiting is unbearable. Do they ever think about what they're doing to employees with all of the uncertainty?

The poster who was contacted by HR, can u share your people leader title in vague format:

No need to share dept

If there are job eliminations, it seems too early for the announcement. Some people on this site need to take a deep breathe and relax. Store closures will be announced first and then, if any, any job eliminations, will be announced later in the month before the spring budget begins. The spring bases are already complete and there are many factors that go into determining the budgets for a store.

Well, if HR has been involved in your area, the rumors are true. As for sharing on this site, that will not jeopardize your career. Only if you give your name. Use someone else's phone.

To the last commenter, if HR really started reaching out can't you let us know at least what org you're in?

If you think someone is going to out themselves on an anonymous site and jeopardize their career you’re crazy. HR has already been involved in my area of corporate, that’s all I’ll say.

I am a small time people leader, meaning I have a director in my department. I do not have any official inside facts before hand or decision control in the process.
Yes I am personally stating anything I saw from the past as factual info how it went down. However Directors too are at risk, there is no or discrimination or hierarchy to this process.

In Feb 2020 when first mass layoff was done, if memory serves me correctly anyone to be let go was informed directly by HR first before announcement & then the department gathered everyone like cattle to let the team left of the layoff & the go forward structural changes.

It was such a disgusting & astonishing experience.

But who are you to know that??? Are you the ceo? CFO? HR? A VP? I am pretty high up in corporate and haven’t heard anything about mass layoffs and restructuring so I guess I assume I’m going too.

It seems like this is a lot of paranoid people feeding into a few made up rumors. I get it, you post something crazy about lay offs then hope a vp or someone with the dirt comes and confirms it. But I doubt there’s anyone with real information willingly offering it on an anonymous site.

Wednesday isn't over yet. Last time I checked, anyway. Jeff I'd probably still in bed. 😁

Are any of you commenting people leaders with actual knowledge of this? Or are you just employees that are reading between the lines, or going off past years of angst and guessing that these things are coming at these times?

The first round of cuts will be this month. The second and third round probably will be in June. It's just of matter of time ⏳ 👀

They don,t care, bottom line. All they care about is pleasing the share holders. I have been in your shoes, I know the feeling. Every single January , my team was looking over their shoulders waiting for the ax to drop.
My advice to you, start looking for other employment.
