Visionary tech leaders like PN built an innovative scalable MPP data warehouse that was differentiated for many years. Sadly, vision-less NCR sales guys took over (MH, then MK) + a legacy-minded, part-time CTO (SB) stalled innovation. TDC totally missed the appliance and cloud industry shifts. Nightmare grocery CEO VL, then arrogant rookie OR, then VL again really hurt credibility. Bain and McKinsey added zero value. Blindsided by Snowflake. Numerous ELT failed hires. Final nail in the coffin was the woke ELT takeover (rookie CEO SM, HA, KCC, NC) who are focused on DEI and not the business. BoD was absent and apathetic, and allowed ELT members to make extreme compensation not tied to revenue growth. So sad...TDC = The Dying Company

SM since the buck stops with him, or should stop with him but the board is asleep at the wheel. He should be hiring top leaders but he is checking the woke boxes instead.
We've lost so much top talent over the past 12 months. Individuals who could close a deal, present like a boss and save the company.
From a ratio perspective they were worth 50x HA's. Just lost opportunity.
Do we include NC? Certainly one of the worst. I just heard that he's gone.
SM, HA, KCC, NC, DS, JW, CB, TC….. and the entire BOD
HA is the worst and it in the position to hurt us the most since our product is so far behind and she has no plan to improve it.
Who do you think is the worst ELT hire? Or rank your top five worst. We can submit the results at SKO
This company is not recognizable anymore. For many years I was proud to say I worked for Teradata. Not anymore. I’ve been here 25 years and just need 2-3 before I retire. I’m not sure we have that long left. I guess we are so legacy that no other company will acquire us?
100 words to summarize 40 years. Excellent. Interesting that there were no successful acquisitions or mergers the entire time. Aprimo was probably the largest and that was a huge failure. They let JB walk out with IP that became Starburst since they did not know what they had. LOL. So same product, same direct sales business model, no growth through acquisitions, and Teradata's partnering approach was a joke. No wonder they are still under $2B in revenue.
I’m not sure which was the worst. SB as CTO for over 20 years is on the top. VL and OR as CEO was bad too. But putting RP and then HA over R&D was horrible. Neither are technical and were terrible decisions. HA just covers her a$$ and SM is too nice to call her out. And her blogs are embarrassing. Who do you think was/is the worst ELT hire?
This is a good summary of what happens when a board of directors allows compensation not tied to revenue or customer growth to run rampant. The ELT turnover over the past ten years was alarming and they all received enormous compensation packages with expensive exits. TDC stopped promoting from within so all the smart people left. What a mess!
At business schools around the globe they'll be teaching the demise of TDC as a text book example of how a company can go from market leader to ashes in a short space of time.
You've just got to shake your head at the constant stream of failed ELT we've had over the years. You look at these failed individuals and wonder how they got to where they are and how they have fooled so many people for so long.
I forgot to add JW to the list of the ELT who have hijacked Teradata. She is so incapable and makes so much money that who will be the poster child of what is wrong with DEI. I am all for diversity and giving under-represented groups a better chance to advance, but this is so blatant and she is so bad that it negatively impacts the entire cause.
