Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Next round.

When do we think the next round of cuts will be and what numbers and roles will go?
If any of course.
IMO Dell has to cut more roles but this is just my opinion and has no actual basis other than sales are way down in some area's by a huge margin.

"No layoffs will happen.
100% guaranteed."

Right...Dell has been doing the forced attrition along side the forced WFRs because natural attrition wasn't fast enough. It's significantly likely they will continue their layoff trend at the start of FY25.

No layoffs will happen.
100% guaranteed.
What will happen is they will make it as hard as possible to make mondey and force attrition.
Moral is low and customers are tired of the turnover of accounts but with this management things wont get and better.
AI is the new buzz word and that is all it will be with Dell.

These cuts have almost always been the 1st week of any new half. Why do people keep asking this question over and over.

so it sounds like to avoid the right sizing you just have to get high. ALRIGHT

@2eho+1qni4aSG, do more with less one year later. :D

last time was first week of Feb so I would assume next one would be around the same time frame. We had a meeting today and the expectation for us is to do more with less, plain and simple. Morale is low.

Round 2, round 1? What BS is that. Dell has been doing layoffs for years, especially after the merger. It's not like round 12 at this point.

Op here. While I do think cuts are on the way I also highly doubt the numbers that have been quoted of 20% are accurate.More likely aroound the 5 even 10% mark of sales and overlap but again thats just IMO.
Has anybody got any genuine info on numbers or dates this may start?

My super dooper high contact says 60%, they are the leaders of AI and will not need employees in the future. They will only keep the archaic club of incompetent leadership, lose customers but have a great narative to tell. 🤣🤣🤣

Marketing has way too many SVPs and VPs that add no value. Top talent is pushed out or leaves the company. Eliminate all Field Marketing and move the team under Sales/CoC.

If there is round 2 it will be less than the first one.
No company does a larger 2nd round unless it's about to go out of business

If shareholder confidense is their concern, the message of a larger 2nd cut will be dire.

15-30k is a big range. That's more than just marketing. Are we at the point that all groups, even exempt groups from prior layoffs, will be forced to layoff a person or two. Sounds like this layoff could affect all groups this time.

If history is anything to go by, it will likley be in febuary, thats what we are expecting.

Look at the business, missing numbers, losing market share and now share price has stalled a bit. Why not reduce the opex and make the books look good and get to $80 a share. Thats the game isnt it?

Anyone with tangible skills is walking on egg shells as we know how it works at dell. Friends and family come first.... if you dare show initiative or even worse obtain results that arent artributed to your sh---y "leader" you had better watch out....

Achieving targets and having a high standard of expectation will see you at risk.

Marketing is failing the rest of the business because we’re flooded with useless directors and above who are allergic to doing any actual work. If anyone tries to do anything impactful they get stomped down by leadership because those directors don’t even know what their own teams do, much less how to do their jobs better. I hope we get cuts in the right place (leadership, if they can even be called that) but that never happens so the good marketers just leave.

Sales/sales-adjacent is the biggest hit. We may also see some cuts in CSG/ISG services but it may be team dependent.

Nobody on my team got cut last year because we're short as it is, they're just not backfilling any roles when people quit or promote. I did have a buddy get cut from a CSG specialist team in services during the last round.

This year, who knows. I do happen to like my job particularly, but I'll survive if I get cut.

I will say Sales and Marketing. At least sales they are trying to make money. But Marketing is so lousy and they bring zero value at this point. Most people I know in marketing are lazy as lazy can be. They failed to deliver in other roles so they skipped to marketing of course with a preferential treatment from some questionable Directors.
