Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy's announced 5 store closings today. 5 total including one in Hawaii.

Completely false. There are not this many stores closing.

Noticing the references to "neighborhood stores". That is no longer a relevent designation to determine closing locations. It is all about getting out of leases in non-productive locations. The company would love to get out of at least 10 times more locations in failung malls. The focus is growing the mini Macy's in lifestyle and big box shopping centers while growing online business.

Exton Square isn't at all a shock. More surprising that they kept it open this long.

Honestly, all of those locations listed I’m not surprised and actually am shocked they are still open! Unless there’s concrete, major redevelopment in dead malls, I don’t think Macy’s should have a presence. There’s still a good amount of locations I can think of not on this list that are in a dead zone, or a dead mall or even a standalone store now from where a mall used to be. Gwinnett place mall near Atlanta, Metro north just north of Kansas City are two good examples!

For me I appreciate the info. Would love to find the source and if any more locations. The other posts did say possibly 2 in NJ but this site I kind of expected. Very sorry to those who are part of a closing location and hoping they can relocate you to another site that’s close by
