Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

2024 - Call to action to avoid continuous layoffs

Much has been said with the lack of cloud technology and the incompetent management causing endless layoffs, while workers suffer the brunt of their failed strategy and actions.

Time for action in 2024. The following needs to happen to avoid layoffs needless spending for the sake of share holders and workers.

  • Admit that the TD product is a niche product, which it always has been and very good at. The TD architecture is purpose built and served its purpose. Sell it or keep it but maintain appropriate staffing for its purpose.
  • Replace current B of D/ELT/SVPs/directors - they're a failure layoffs after layoffs and have done nothing but playing office, learning on the job at the expense of shareholder values and workers' livelihood. They're over compensated and time to cut the cord with least cost.
  • Much $$$ will be saved with the above, hire a new B of D and technical team to do new product that leapfrog current products in market like a start up. Or, just distribute the savings and assets to share holders.
  • Let the rest of the workers know how much time left before they are let go. Stop stringing everyone with false hope, lies, and expensive compensation only to lay them off surprisingly. This let people know the reality so they can make plans to move on. Anyone that stay, do so at their own risk.

Yes, it's time to throw in the towel and start over. Fail quickly and move on but more importantly, stop paying current management for same failure year after year.

The ELT know they have a company of scared employees who are afraid to question them because of the consequences. That's why you see them getting more brazen in their actions which in normal environments would never fly.

These people are no different to criminals. They are bottom feeders who prey on fear of the unknown. They have failed to bring Teradata into an AI market that is booming. They have taken a once great product that was market leading and destroyed it. They have snubbed their noses at the heritage and rich history of employees and put in place their own people in roles that only enrich them.

If you want sanity but can't stick your neck out, get the heck out asap.
Why bother any longer with this place. The damage done is beyond repair.
Best to do a calculated move out of here quickly when it impacts ELT the most.

That's exactly the mindset BoD and ELT are counting on, "scared and silent". They know that market is tough and in many management meeting even we-ponize it to their advantage by denying promotions, bonuses, and recognition.

Yes, it is true, this management team is very insecure and vindictive and will target anyone that speak up.

BoD and ELT were very afraid of those of many old timers and knowledgeable people because sooner or later, they would question publicly and the management would be exposed. That's why they laid them off to silent them. Now it is no longer their fight. Anyone left here that can afford to help should pick up the mantle? You are still in it and can make a difference by speaking loudly.

While no one owes anyone anything, it is the old timers and those that have nothing to lose or are ready to retire or depart without financial strain, that should speak up against the imbecile management. Many highly skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable real Teradatans have done that and have moved on.

If you want a better place to work at, lower risk of continuous layoffs, and free of terrible people that make up the current management and toxic environment , you need to speak up and fight for it. If you don't you deserve what you have. Nothing is free.

You first. Let’s see you ask these questions live at SKO and the next all employee meetings.

Some of us fully support your mindset, but do not want a target on our backs in this economy and job market.

We have much to lose, and no faith the ELT has the empathy to care (if anyone is bold enough to speak up).

Well stated post from another thread. Rise against the ELT and let your voices be heard.

Make BoD and ELT answer the tough unfortable questions that they are paid millions to handle. Make them think if they want to face the workers each day.

"To those riffed, keep your chins up and take each day as it comes.

To those remaining, use every opportunity to question leaders why some of the best and brightest staff have been let go. Question why the strategy is not working. Question why they continue to reward themselves millions of dollars whilst the company flounders. Question why we are getting beat up by competitors who just a few years ago they were saying are no threat.

Rise up against the ELT, make their life uncomfortable and stop allowing them to enrich themselves at the expense of those who have left the company."

Wake up brother ! You’re making them laugh very loud. Never B of D , ELT, SVP and Directors will commit such a horrible su----e. Why should they ? Their pocket is deep, their life funny, their family happy.
They will milk off the dying cow until its very very last moment.
Run, run, run ! Run away from if you can, unless you’re trapped and unemployable elsewhere.

That is exactly the problem and why TeraDoom.

The B of D, ELT, and minions have no clue, sensibility, moral, ethics or what constitute excellence. So d-mb, they don't know when they're not wanted and should resign on their own. If they have any decency left, they should resign, feel shame and stop taking money for doing nothing and contributing to mediocrity.

The buck has to stop with the current B of D and ELT. There is simply zero experience in the ELT with knowledge of the market that we are in. The rank and file staff have zero trust in the ELT's ability to stop the sinking ship. They know the ELT are just in it to line their pockets.

Endless failures in NC, KCC, JW, HA, DS, SM over the past few years are examples of people who have been promoted far beyond their skill set.
The remaining long termers know that the ELT have no loyalty to the brand.

The board continues to support the ELT and are complicit to this failure
