Retail lost all of their holidays for 2024 except Thanksgiving and Christmas. The company grabbed them, slapped them across the face and said "Happy New Year, go fu-k yourself". Unionize, unionize, UNIONIZE!

I know for a fact, from experience, that unions save jobs, forces the company to prove just cause during attempted termination, retain benefits that non union shops lose, give us a voice and a place at the table. We fought for our Union representation, we called the company execs out on their bullsh-t right to their faces, we showed them that we wasn't afraid to stand up for ourselves anymore. I'm sick of seeing 'Unions served their purpose' posts. You don't have a clue what you're talking about, stop spreading company rhetoric.

Unions served a purpose when they started to improve working conditions in the early 20th century. For the most part, now they don't serve the intended purpose and are limiting for business growth and help make it easier for companies and factories move to a state or region or offshore to remain competitive.
Example: Look where the Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, BMW, Kia, and Mercedes plants moved or opened in the US to escape the burden of union regulations in traditional auto manufacturing areas. They also opened key component factories in Mexico. Keep unionizing reap the benefits!
Is this just a case that the store is open and they have to work but still get holiday payOr do they get nothing , asking for a friend .
