Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

RTO in the news

Here’s why return-to-office mandates might start to disappear in 2024. Wonder if JC will ever admit this. They will be laying off but unable to attract new talent if things keep going the way they are going.

Its expected, when people are/feel used, they wont simply leave. They will continue to quietly quit and collect their pay cheque while not putting in any effort while kissing the proverbial butt.

They want their payout.

Dells talent program is shifting to seeking dejected individuals who are simply happy to have a job and do as they are told.

@5ame+1ql7a8Lv Yeah I have heard similar.
Everyone waiting to be paid off before leaving.

RTO was just intended to prompt people leaving if their own accord and not waiting for a layoff so they don’t have to pay severance or make decisions. It’s not been particularly effective…my manager said barely anyone is leaving on their own to the frustration of management.

JC is too arrogant to ever admit he was wrong about anything.

MD never has, even until this day made ANY comment about RTO after JC made that attempt. What does that tell you?

I think MD knew it was going to not work and cause strife so he stayed far away from it. Im still surprised he gave JC the ok to do it.

i dont think they actually had any plans to rto but when all they A+ companies were doing it
Its not like the executive team is visionary on anything. it is pretty much monkey see monkey do.

the rto is a complete disaster btw.

They used the past prior Q2 RTO to target full-time remote workers as a potential soft layoff and also to coach managers to setup 1x1's of their remote workers to inform more like trigger the employee if any possible protest happened and document that. I believe from that alone got you Aug riff list regardless of your perceived value. This just the beginning steps they will continue to reduce their workforce because server sales are flat and the client that spiked during COVID did save some riffs and bought time but now the ly must do this to keep the stock up

Not sure attracting new talent is a priority short term…especially in US.

Good article. RTO is the least of Dell’s troubles. I don’t see any RTO push in 2024. Dell with stick with their pseudo-hybrid model for sure. Their workplace culture is for sh!t anyway. It’s very close to having them tell you you’re lucky to be working here.
