Is there going to be any reorg or Thomson Reuters layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

"There is going to be more layoffs...especially the annual review based PIPs...."
As the victim of a PIP that led to being let go without any signal I wasn't doing well during the PIP process, it seems once you're on a PIP, you're done. In the 6 weeks I was under the PIP, my manager kept canceling the weekly 1-to-1's, so we only were able to sync up twice. That obviously isn't enough face time to talk about whether the metrics for getting off the PIP were being met. It wasn't until I was in a meeting with a my manager and someone from HR that it became apparent they were seeing me out of the door.
This is definitely a system-generated post that, like TR layoffs, happens every year.
Does seem if your skin is the correct color, you may have a better chance of promotions and better raises.
"Once upon a time, in a bygone era, it was a really enjoyable place to work. If you excelled at your job, possessed knowledge, worked diligently, and delivered results, you could expect to be rewarded, retained, and promoted."
I agree with about half of that... It was a really enjoyable place to work, and people did excel at their jobs and possessed knowledge. The rewards were, IMO, more work if you were a good worker. I always had good or better than good reviews year over year over year, but no matter how much more I did or contributed than my peers, raises were in an extremely narrow range and barely above cost of living. Shrug. I stuck with it because I liked the work and the environment, but there never was much of a career ladder or chance of demonstrating "exceeded" for more than a standard merit raise, no matter what you did.
Between the constant BS reasons for lack of promotion each year, the deletion of town hall questions from colleagues execs don’t want to answer, and the piling of projects on to people you don’t want to promote, I’ve realized what a toxic landfill this place is.
Once upon a time, in a bygone era, it was a really enjoyable place to work. If you excelled at your job, possessed knowledge, worked diligently, and delivered results, you could expect to be rewarded, retained, and promoted. However, I am uncertain if this is still the case. Many knowledgeable and skilled individuals have been let go, and it seems that people in positions of power are there simply for saying the right things. I guess this applies more to US/UK/CA. If you have a good decent manager, then you are slightly fortunate. Makes life a little easier. Very rare these days to find a fair, decent manager that looks after you too.
There used to be an annual layoff "season" that was from mid-October to mid-December. Now it seems to happen a few times during the year at different times. Bottom line is that if you are a US/Canada/UK-based employee, you are at risk of layoff at any time.
TR LEADERSHIP - If I had known there was an annual layoff process I would not have come work for you. POTENTIAL CANDIDATES- THIS IS ANNUAL EVENT. NOONE IS UNAFFECTED UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXECUTIVE.
Someone is not making smart decisions
Layoffs and reorgs are common place
If you are addicted to the thrill of being at risk of losing your job or your status this is the spot for you. Otherwise there are calmer waters elsewhere.
I agree with the last post. I remember that this time of the year the conversations turned to, "What do you think bonuses will be this year," not will there be more layoffs.
There is going to be more layoffs...especially the annual review based PIPs....
Layoffs are more likely then an actual raise or promotion.
What does it say about a company when employees speculate more about layoffs than they do raises and promotions.
There are some every year.
