Chatter & Movement going on at the Pontiac IL facility. IDES was there and was informed to prepare for the lay off. We’re currently going through a RIF, and indefinite layoffs are to begin sometime in January, and the AWS shift is being eliminated.
Caterpillar needs to shutdown their Progress Rail plant in Winston-Salem, NC. That plant hasn't made a profit since it was built in 2011. Shawn Meck and Alan Hicks are responsible for the poor quality of manufacturing and the loss of revenue.
The Caterpillar in Victoria,TX is laying people off. For stupid reasons and lying to their employees why they got let go. I think corporate should go to that location and remove the upper management and shut down that location
There have been temporary layoffs in East Peoria, IL. Handfuls here and there for 1-2 weeks at a time for the last few months. Largest amount to hit starts next week 6/17/2024. They have been hiring despite TLO, also.
I understood that a number of production management personnel were laid off 6/10 at Caterpillar in NC as well. Assume compact equipment?
It appears Cat has dispatched experts to Mexico to test the waters there for possible relocation of the Sanford NC Skid Steer Loader and CTL. Coincidentally, Deere is moving the same product lines from Dubuque, Iowa to Mexico as well. On the other hand, Korean Manufacturer Hyundai Heavy Industries have inquiries in as to the status of "Mega Site" near Mebane NC for a new location to assemble a new line of SSL and CTLs, compact loaders, and dozers.
No chatter, but it appears like there is a hiring freeze going on.
