Canon laid off approximately 700 people across all canon companies. Entire company is in turmoil. Management doing nothing. No communication. Staff in te---r of being next on the chopping block or actively applying for new employment.

TSE sales team moving from 18 to 13 people in BICG - early retirement or not.

er-plans first signal of layoffs. If they don't get enough acceptance, then they will reduce staff by other means.

Canon’s HR staff contacted former employees on Facebook to remove references to Canon on personal posts regarding their layoff. They are trying really hard to control the narrative but members of the leadership team are the ones talking!

Seems like business development isn’t, um….developing. I’m afraid bad politics and expat pandering has led to the demise of new business ventures. Prayers and best wishes to those impacted. Keep you heads up and find something better!

WARN notices are only required if 1/3 of the population is impacted. My assumption is that the company is laying off employees each quarter to avoid doing that. I know a few people who were impacted and were a couple years shy of retirement. Canon seems to target the older population with these layoffs.

The bottom line is that their camera and toner business is tanking. They tried to get into the aerospace industry and blundered on that contract. And now they are switching gears to focus more on medical but are floundering that too.

Canon Va layoff did not only impact manufacturing but all departments. It was pretty large and widespread. Why weren’t employees provided with a mandated WARN notice required by the Department of Labor?

Anyone laid off is eligible to port their Basic Life and Voluntary Life benefits, and convert them into an individual policy. Canon historically attempts to prevent the Basic Life policy from being ported because they try to recoup the contributions they made over the years. It’s a violation of Federal law.

Sooo many rumors and chatter!

  • Cafeteria flatware inventories at 82.1% of pre pandemic levels
  • DX model refresh rates at 2.1 per 6.7 months. Dealer previous model inventories at 180% capacity.
  • Exciting new products such as science fiction 1980’s inspired vacuum doing great. New wh-z bartender firmware upgrade coming for Q3??? 99 proof Canadian Whisk-y option? Maybe? Maybe booze from India? Hope not but customer is always right…
  • US HO largely distracted by 2024 election? Canada office in Brampton=Lots of drafts via too many windows not enough caulking. Metaphor? Site being evaluated for sale? Possibly a great consumer storage facility?
