The Citi work environment involves managing with a level of fear and chilling the employees. This is such a strange culture; has it always been this way?

Yes, Citi rules out of fear, it keeps the employees from asking for more money. Citi loves to sell to the employees that they should be grateful that Citi allows them to work here.
Its a tactic used by bad leadership to distract its employees. “Don’t look behind the curtain.”
You all are silly. (And I’ve never worked in HR, are they like cops who have to identify if asked? )
Bunch of drama queens.
Yeah. The Laidoff Employees are the Schlimazels because of Citi's mismanagement Fvck Ups!
So true about Jane giving herself a raise after the stress of and job well done Laying people off ! Citi is the Citi Titanic, a sinking ship, train wreck in slow painful motion. It would not surprise the world if Citi got broken up, pieces sold or merged entirely with another bank at the end of 2024 or within the next 3 to 5 years. Maybe Jpmorgan Chase, Goldman, Bank of America, even Wells ?? LOL!
Post ID: @1zay+1qgYMvEC Thanks Citi HR ! So hard to identify. (Extreme Sarcasm!). Employees are Not faceless numbers, drones or unfortunate casualties of Citi's mismanagement and Fvck Ups. Employees are Human Beings, something Citi does Not know or understand. Employees have families to feed and bills to pay, Not that Citi gives a Flying Fvck! Some of the Laidoff Employees will remove and withdraw their Citi bank accounts, credit cards, loans etc. and transfer them to Citi's competitors. Even some of the Employees who are Not Laidoff will Not recommend or promote Citi's products and services to their network and circle of friends, relatives and neighbors. There ARE OTHER BANKS and Other Options besides Citi. Citi's Layoffs have and are causing mistrust, disgust and disdain for all things Citi amongst Both remaining and Laidoff Employees. These actions will further contribute to Citi's decline. LOL!
I don’t see any ruling by fear. It’s just pragmatic. We need to restructure the company. In doing that things will
Change, orgs, roles etc and a by product will be layoffs. Every large company does this to varying degrees.
Some companies tout “There’s no way you guys are leaving, our pay is competitive and our perks are great”
Citi would rather take the opposite approach, “You guys can’t leave, the job market is bad out there, just be glad we allow you to keep your job.”
Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt = Control by keeping worker bees off balance.
If I felt that way about a company I worked at, I wouldn’t be there 11 years. YMMV
I’ve been at C for 11 years. Yes, its always been this way that I know of. A long standing history of delivering a tough message to the group as to not expect much in regards to rewards summed up with the all too repeated phrase of “just be glad you get to keep your job”.
They did not pay attention in business school.
