Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Why no cost saving measures at the executive level?

The COO position did not exist before they gave it to Stephanie. They literally created the position just for her and then they pay her millions of millions of dollars.

The companies losing money every quarter there’s no bonuses yet we as a company somehow have the financial resources to create a new executive position and pay the person bill of dollars to fill it?

Where are the cost-cutting managers at the executive level? Not only are there no positions being eliminated they’re creating new positions and paying millions of dollars. To fill them.

Why does the board allow this type of obvious mismanagement and waste of resources?

The company really just like to hire non-thinkers to manipulate them. This is the new norm in the industry. Companies don't want independent thinkers anymore. They seem to be a threat to the CEO club. Now it seems to be catching up to them. Poor leadership will be the downfall of our company.

Because they think they're royalty. And they're outsourcing all the work to turn it into something they can deal with on their phone.

in order to have skilled and talented people on your team. You have to build and design new airplanes.

The last airplane Boeing designed was the 787 and most of that airplane was outsourced to partners, Boeing’s staff did not get a lot of meaningful experience.

Most of the people who worked on the original 777 development are close to retirement or have retired.

The only experienced people on Boeing staff, are the few groups who were given actual design work on the 787.

The problem with outsourcing is when you’re no longer the largest aircraft manufacturer you no longer take priority. Most of these suppliers and partners that you are dependent on consider their number one customer to be airbus not Boeing.

So Airbus will get priority on schedule, the best people, and the best manufacturing equipment instead of Boeing. they sell a lot more airplane parts to airbus then Boeing, because Airbus is building a lot more airplanes right now.

Boeing has a reputation among their suppliers of being difficult and cheap, not wanting to pay. Most of their suppliers now prefer to work with Airbus.

Yep, don't think Boeing's long term prospects are very favorable given how they tossed all their best people to the curb for nepo executive wealth generation. Aerospace wasn't ever easy even though their best people once made it look that way...and their nepo executives didn't know better or didn't care. Very hard to successfully compete in aerospace without these best people and that's not something that be can be outsourced or quickly recreated.

Nothing really matters at Boeing anymore. If you don't have competent, dedicated and highly experienced people, you can't successfully compete in the aerospace industry for very long. But current Boeing leadership has ignored that reality for years and it would take decades to get it back...and this expertise isn't something that can be outsourced. So just expect a continuation of the smoke and mirrors game to increase stock value without there being any real substance to justify it.

Talking to Boeing Ethics Department people about any ethical issues you see or witness at Boeing is one of the fastest ways of getting yourself handed a Lay-off notice. Don't ever believe you can contact Boeing Ethics department anonymously. They use tracking software and know exactly who you are by the end of the day.

They ought to lay-off 100% of the Boeing Ethics Org. Ever approach Boeing Ethics people about an ethics concern? Good luck with that. After chopping Boeing Ethics Org, cut 99% of Boeing HR Org. What are all the multiple Boeing HR Vice-Presidents, Boeing HR Executives and five layers of Boeing HR Mangement people needed for? 99% of these people don't show up at work every day and work 100% remote. Boeing Ethics and Boeing HR Vice Presidents and Executives along with the rest of the Orgs should be layed-off just like how Boeing sticks it to common folks by handing them a 60 Day WARN.
As for the K, L and M Boeing Managers time to cull the Herd. A good start would be chopping 70% of each K, L & M Boeing management pool.

They could get rid of 50% of the vice presidents of Boeing and it would not affect anything.

These people spend 75% of their day playing politics, trying to get to the next level.

You could get rid of two layers of management and absolutely nothing as far as the day-to-day activities of 99% employees would change.

Having six layers of management over every single employee is absurd in the company now I had to seventh layer with the COO position?

The solution to the companies problem is not adding more managers it is getting rid of about half of them.

I think you just worry too much.
Especially about things you have no control over.

I get your point regarding costs, but always thought not having a COO is weird and wondered if having that position could push us into a right direction. Think about it, what Fortune 500 company, or any other successful company for that matter, doesn't have a COO? I'm not saying the Stephanie is the right person for the job, but I'm glad we finally have one.
