Broadcom terminates all partner contracts

https://www.reddit.com/r/vmware/comments/18oql6w/vmware_partner_programs_no_more/

An e-mail went out today.

To that end, we are excited to announce that we will be transitioning all of VMware’s partner programs to the by-invitation-only award-winning Broadcom Advantage Partner Program, effective February 5, 2024.

Effective today, we are also announcing changes to VMware's partner programs which will exist through February 4, 2024. Please refer to the VMware partner program operative changes on the VMware by Broadcom Essential Partner Information page.

Also effective today, all VMware Partner Incentive programs will end on or before February 4, 2024. For specifics, please refer to the VMware Partner Programs EOL & Transition FAQ document (also located on the VMware by Broadcom Essential Partner Information page), including any actions you may be required to take.

It's invite only too.

As mentioned above, Broadcom’s Advantage Partner Program is a by-invitation-only program. Partner invitations into the Broadcom Advantage program will begin in January and the timeline will vary by partner type and route to market.

One thing you will learn about being here…. All Communications are made on a need to know basis. Just be quiet, do your job, don’t waste time trying to change the world, do as you’re told. In the interim figure out your exit or survival plan/timeline. It’s really quite simple…

It’s a one-man show, driven purely by the $$$’s

Yes, yes it is. You didn’t get the memo about that either it seems.

Easily solved. BCOM employees can access the partner communications directly from the Broadcom Partner portal button in OKTA. Add it to your list of things to check daily so you too can be as knowledgeable as a partner. Much easier than VMware's partner portal rules, where comms were not employee accessible.

It’s crazy being an employee and having to learn about this here. No notifications internally. Wow.

Also, very few people know how to quote the bundles and we were hoping the channel would help.

Now I understand why management has been saying “the next 6 months will be bumpy”.

In a professional organization the account manager would convey the changes in a meeting and be ready to answer questions. The decision would happen after consulting with account managers and partner managers. Hock man is like a bull charging at a red cape.

This is not a professional organization. It’s a one-man show, driven purely by the $$$’s. The communications that have come from Broadcom all prove this. In some respects he reminds me a lot of Trump.

"That means no more pay as you go for providers. This effectively ki-ls shared platforms for now. Farewell to all our providers who fall outside the top 500."

Service providers depend on pay as you go pricing because they buy the infrastructure and set it up as a service and then have to obtain the customers who pay on subscription. If they have to pay up front it ki-ls the business model and they will lose money. 75% of VMware SD-WAN and SASE revenue comes from service providers. These products will die without pay as you go pricing.

The people saying good to this must not know anything about the VCPP program; hopefully none of you are actually in/were in VCPP. What they are doing is basically ki-ling the RAM based model through this and only allowing core based pricing. That means no more pay as you go for providers. This effectively ki-ls shared platforms for now. Farewell to all our providers who fall outside the top 500.

"Here’s the pricing from VMW. No, we won’t be building in 15 points of margin for you to send a quote, a PO, and then an invoice. "

You forgot that they acquired the customer. How much do you think that costs? You sound like an out of touch and arrogant vendor employee.

Quite a few partners are going to need to get it together. While we can’t tell anyone what to charge, the days of the channel wagging the dog on pricing are over and for one, I’m glad.

Here’s the pricing from VMW. No, we won’t be building in 15 points of margin for you to send a quote, a PO, and then an invoice.

There's nothing like just sending out an email to cause mass confusion and make partners feel unwanted. In a professional organization the account manager would convey the changes in a meeting and be ready to answer questions. The decision would happen after consulting with account managers and partner managers. Hock man is like a bull charging at a red cape.

Next headline will be “Hock terminates all employees and replaces them with partners and AI”.

You can renew your subscriptions with a chat bot. Deal with it or leave.

The majority of customers will just deal with it.

This is likely to cause some disruption in the short-term but improve in the long-term.

VMW has relationships with 20 global systems integrators but was actively utilizing very few. Hock has been very critical of our leadership's inability to utilize this key channel. This change could correct that strategic flaw in the VMW sales and marketing approach.

This is going to cause confusion. I can see many partners focusing on the competition.
