Teradata slipped all the way out. What a shame. The decline has been evident for many years. At least they finally fired the out of touch CTO. The rest of the ELT should be fired too. Sadly it’s too late to get this legacy train back on track. It will be fun to see how they try to spin this.

If you track our Gartner MQ declines over the past two years, we began the slide when JW defocused our AR program and fired our AR team—ignored people who had relationships with Gartner and knew the mechanics of the MQ.
Note the MQ 'x' axis vision; our score has gone down. What has significantly declined is the MQ 'y' axis. ability to execute.
Customers will only buy from the leader's MQ. At the same time, SNOW went from Challenger to Leader.
Crashed and burned Mav. This will hasten the decline of the company as customers put belief into these charts and will avoid investing in a company in the throes of decline.
If you were deciding what database to invest into would you really put your job on the line by selecting antiquated technology that has fallen out of the leaders quadrant? Of course not, your going to put the money onto a winning horse. Why even risk it?
All Teradata has is a database for data warehouse workloads. Its legacy and bolted into the cloud. Now even though they pay Gartner huge fees even they acknowledge how far it’s dropped. Teradata kept celebrating “We are a leader in the MQ” but that ride is over.
It’s just so sad. Both longtiine and newer Teradata employees that were trying to do the right things were let go if what they were doing was against ELT in any way. All ELT cares about is keeping their ridiculously overinflated salaries + making sure the stock price stays up. This all sounds reasonable but the Teradata board is to stupid to realize that cutting headcount is a quicker way to juice the stock price in the short term than producing a viable product. Soon there won’t be anymore headcount to cut. When this happens ELT will jump ship with their bags of money and Teradata will be even worse off than before they were first hired on.
"Visionary" = "Wannabe" = Paid big consulting payola gotta put us somewhere
“Visionary” is a shrewd way for Gartner to avoid saying “Loser” which is what that category is. Kind of like how Starbucks names their small cup “Tall.” They want to let the losers down easy so they keep paying their analyst fees.
Wow, Teradud is so bad they can’t even buy their way on to the MQ.
Humpty Dumpty had a big fall…….

Very sad. Now a Visionary.
Do you think JW was selected because she was the best candidate available?
This is what happens when you fire your industry analyst team and replace them with someone who does not know what they are doing led by a CMO who is so far out of her depth it’s unbelievable. In the past two years under JW we have declined in the MQ to eventually dropping out of the leader quadrant. In a market we defined we have become an also ran. So sad to se the demise.
