Vmw fte here in engineering. I moved away from office during covid at vmware. Ofc I'm nervous about layoffs for those of us that have no office anywhere near us, like myself. I have heard in the past they have given mandates to relocate within x time or be let go. Is this true? While I don't want to move, I'd do it if they made it an ultimatum as I actually want to stay at broadcom. Does anyone have any meaningful insight into this?

Hock doesn't care one way or another about ESG / woke. He's running a business, not a political advocacy group.
Keep asking questions and you will be relocated to Hock’s summer home, Penjara Sungai Buloh.
They won’t make you move. That’s not a thing at Broadcom.
They just fire your a-s.
You work for a dictator. He can change his mind about anything at any moment. This is not the place to “plan”
for the future.
You do not have to move. Just need to find a new job
Has Broadcom ditched all the woke /esg insanity?
That was the primary reason for my exit from VMware because it became unbearable. After being there for close to 10 years as an engineer who never had issues with performance, but due to the timespan I was having a very difficult time removing myself even though , at that time , there was plenty of opportunities.
In the end though however because of the endless barrage of LGBTQ+, BLM activism, new 'mandatory' social justice training courses being shoved on employees my attitude deteriorated to a point where I left them no choice but to do it for me. The initial shock though was only a moment compared to the overwhelming sense of relief that followed.
The BU head at one point had even sent an email to all employees in which she felt it necessary to warn everyone in regards to the thread of so called white supremacy. I suppose since they had displaced so many employees by that point with Indians she probably didn't feel it was such a big deal
There’s probably a lot of analysis being done of which VMware offices are being kept, which are being closed and which are being consolidated into Broadcom’s existing offices or vice versa. Then once they have a stable footprint of offices to move forward with they will probably review FT employees addresses to determine who would be eligible to attend an office if they are within proximity to one (provided that the office has enough space to absorb them and anybody else in the area).
Again you may be asked to attend an office if you’re within reasonable driving distance from one but I haven’t heard of anybody being asked to move their whole life and family to a location just to attend an office.
I think I'm fairly relaxed. I am just trying to understand what may or may not happen. The messaging from Broadcom so far to vmw employees is pretty dare o say, vague. The last official messaging we go was for employees who are fully remote and not near an office hang tight for further information. That's it. It seems kind of odd to even say that if nothing is happening with fully remote people.
They won’t make you move.
