What a great way to help ki-l what little positive morale this place has. Not giving employees early release for Christmas due to “the holiday being on a Monday.” Not sure what Monday has to do with it, but I hope they know there will be zero work done after noon so they’re not saving any more by keeping us here.

They let us go home early at Stoney island. But hey, we don’t exist any more than Area51.
This post has multiple facets. On one hand, yeah, the company should definitely just drop a blanket early-release statement for all non-essential positions. But on the other hand, messaging from upper leadership has been all about “managing in the gray” so I’d bet most supervisors will let everyone go early. Obviously there are certain roles that require a person to be physically present at all times. That means that some people will have to shift schedules around, and they made peace with that decision when they took the job long before the holiday season. They will get to rub it in next summer when they’re floating in their backyard kiddie pool.
I seriously doubt that when developing the company strategy there was anyone who even remotely put effort into trying to purposefully keep people from their families on a holiday. To a single employee the thought is, “is my holiday worth a couple hundred bucks”, but to a corporate boss who has to keep shareholders happy and 15,000 people employed (but more importantly has to make sure he/she gets his/her 4th house on a 5th continent), the frame of reference is, “is one day worth 2 billion dollars?”
I definitely get the disappointment. I do. But does the lack of a mandatory few hours early release really seem like some intentional significant punishment from the corporate overlords? (Some of) The ELT and their closely held minions are definitely running operations that would make you request a discount from our Lubes department to help ease the pain. I’m on board with calling out that kind of stuff. But just complaining about not getting to go home early (not even that you had to stay late or got Extra work. You just had to do the job you signed up for and agreed to do and didn’t get an extra special surprise from the boss) is the reason other folks can make comments about this place just being entitled bottom feeders who don’t like having to do their jobs.
Once again, I firmly agree with you that there should just be a company-wide early release for everyone possible. But a lack of a bonus is not a punishment. That’s why it’s called a bonus.
I’m just there for the coffee. I bring it home too. Helps me GO Go go
All the top performers have the most time inside the gate. You want that carrot?
It’s not what p66 can do for you. It’s what you can do for p66.
Not sure about everyone else but I brought my pillow to work so I can get some real work done today
One year, on the day before the long holiday weekend, my supervisor called in and demanded to speak with all her employees at 4:30 pm. Just to check in and make sure they all were still there. Never mind, that she left at noon.....
Stop posting on this site and get back to work.
come on, we need everyone to be on board to push this company to be successful. ask not what p66 can do for you, ask what you can do for p66. go go go!
Yeah, I’m not even do the minimum it takes to get by like I usually do.
Classic Phillips 66 Bville...treating adult employees like middle schoolers. You can't leave until the bell rings!
How about this...get you work done and simply leave. Don't debate, just leave, "be empowered".
