While I was cleaning my desk drawer at home this morning, i came across to documentation received from Farmer's HR on retirement benefits. I was part of the MetLife group acquired in 2021 but after several months at Farmers the same BS exist in the group. After recommendations from at least two federal agencies, I was in a toxic work environment and the best course of action was to leave.
There were integrity issues with several management employees and some still exhibited the same type behavior at Farmers. For instance while at MetLife, management would provide monthly spreadsheets with employee names, project codes and designated hours to report on timesheets. Employees would transfer the information to their timesheets and submit them. Some project codes and/or hours did not match the actual work performed. I was given some project codes for items that I did not know or worked on. I was not alone. In one instance, a manager directed a team to report PTO as project time. MetLife HR/Employee Relations/Legal continuously supported this process as I informed them that it was falsification of records. However, I found out from contacting Dept. of Labor (OSHA), the process was questionable as it impacts LOB operation earnings to the company which is a violation of SOX. The OSHA representative wanted to start an investigation, but I did not pursue it as it was a moot point with the transition to Farmers. The cockroaches can contact OSHA if they want to question the integrity of the process.
Why am I sharing this background information? In the retirement packet from Farmers HR, I was entitled to a year-end bonus. During a scheduled meeting with HR, I was informed that the manager was "suppose" to provide me a performance review with a "rating". Never got a review or rating from the manager and the retaliation was indicated on the year-end bonus. For all you folks who were let go recently, hopefully you got your rating if the bonus still exists at Farmers. If not received, it is best for you to obtain the information now so you won't be surprised (or not) in the Spring.
As for me, I did not give up on revealing the activities from the cockroaches. The manager's last email to me included a website link to the state's unemployment site. The intention was not there at first, but I submitted a claim with the pertinent information to include a detailed timeline. The unemployment claim was approved without a meeting and uncontested. Some would say that this was justice.
Best of luck to the 2400 people on your next endeavor.
