I'm starting to get this impression, is this correct? I hope I'm wrong. I personally don't mind going the extra mile every once in a while when needed, but having to do it all the time at the cost of my family time? That's not something I'm willing to do. Nobody should be okay with that.

Thinking you are overworking is not the same as actually overworking.
I think OP isn’t familiar with what work is.
Learn to slack and set the bar low. Don't ki-l yourself for a company that doesn't care about you.
Where exactly are you getting that impression? Overworking is not the norm. You are expected to come in, do your hours, and go home. This is supported up and down the ranks.

Are you trying to show off to the people worrying about their next job? You do knows thousands got laid off from
VMware. Maybe resign and another deserving person can get your role and happily overwork

When you are overpaid a little overworking won’t hurt you.

How many hours do you really work a day and how much salary do you get?
Where? So far, my experience is US people log off in the 6pm PST, California time, missing peak traffic, then you don't hear back from themuntil 9am PST
EMEA seems to be working 2nd shift hours to cover US. India works in daytime IST hours so it's a next day follow up.
The only people I see working late, it's either self inflicted or an engineer in the zone who couldn't be pried off their laptop.
