Advice to young people today, as the odds are very much against this generation:

  • Only attend college if you're smart enough to become a doctor, lawyer, engineer, or scientist (or you go for free via scholarship)
  • DO consider trade school - the world needs people who can build and repair things
  • Physical labor is good for you ... find a 'dirty job' and embrace it - at least for a while
  • Have realistic goals & live beneath your means ... even if it's your parents basement
  • Take 25% or more of every dollar you earn & invest it
  • Never gamble with more than you can afford to lose on risky investments
  • Never finance a depreciating asset
  • Use credit wisely ... don't be reckless with somebody else's money
  • Embrace the fact that life is neither easy or fair and that the World owes you nothing

Too young tech workers that have only seen good times. A lot more layoffs are coming. Stop spending money for things you don't need. The downturn is here. You will survive but not if you keep your FOMO lifestyle going. Learn to plumb, weld or OF.
