I work in somewhat of an operations role but more of a control in the process, but still a cog in the machine that inputs stuff. It's both analytical and mechanical, but it honestly seems kind of pointless. some days of the week, I have almost no work to do. Other days, I'm putting 10-12 hours a day. The work is busier, but a lot of it is just editing powerpoints. Manager doesn't like this font or changes the table, so it's mostly cosmetic edits. You can't standardize anything.
A lot of our "deliverables" seem fake. People want X,Y,Z but don't do anything with it. There's controls on top of controls. "SMEs" ask you for stuff that they should already know about anyway. You try to be proactive about stuff but you get shot down because it invites more chaos.
Pay is pretty good, honestly, but I'm getting really bored here.
