Toxic enbridge

It's unfortunate the Enbridge refuses to learn from their past and continues to repeat those same mistakes. All while demanding loyalty from the staff while offering none.

Dude if any environment, either your home life, work, social life, gets too toxic for you - YOU always have a choice to leave. When you’re so stressed out and it’s affecting your mental and physical health you have to re-evaluate your personal situation and make adjustments or leave for another job.

When you retire, or die, or resign from your work the company is just gonna hire a replacement. Love your work but don't let it become your whole identity. Some of your coworkers might not remember you at all right after you leave. Take care of yourself.

I worked for other large companies and also in few different units in Enbridge and I have same observation:

  • almost all for profit companies do what they need to do to achieve cost efficiencies to survive and most often layoffs is an option to achieve it.
  • in any company there are departments/units where some are more toxic and some have better team dynamics and yes leadership has lot to do with it.
  • a lot of big profitable companies now are re-evaluating their employee benefits and pension so if you see changes in your pension and other benefits it’s not unique to Enbridge. Example, more and more companies are going away from DB pension as it’s very expensive to service.
  • HR is not your friend, they don’t work for you. They work for the company so be careful with what you’re saying to HR.
