Sick of people in Citi getting promotion because of their gender or skin colour? Could have ALWAYS said that just a few years ago but it would have been male and white. I assume you mean the opposite now? The vast majority of the people I work with are both competent and knowledgeable and yes, they come in both genders and many colors.
Wish I had as good an opinion of our upper management.

Absolutely not. No one is safe. It’s done in waves and the next one is coming mid to end of march. And then more after that. And do more with less. It’s a tale as old as time.
I got a decent bonus and raise but would not be surprised if I were laid off by the end of March anyway. Call me cynical but I have no faith that this company knows what it's doing.
Sick of people in Citi getting promotion because of their gender or skin colour just to make the diversity metrics look good. Most time these people haven't a clue how to do their job, and demoralises the good people who had to work to get their promotion. No wonder Citi is in the mess its in.

Some promotions SVP to Director are purely based on your relationship with MDs. Some folks are doing pure admin type of job in PMO and do you need Directors for that type of function? Makes no sense:-(. It appears to me MDs are doing favors…
Saw SVP got promoted to Director and layed off after Jan org change communication. Basically his organization rolled under another director. We will probably find out more use cases mid feb.
What do you do when you're silenced and have no opinion or voice? You become a worker bee. your creativity isn't welcomed. you can't leave yet because you have family. you try to find a job, but its hard. what do you do?

Nope. A co-worker was promoted, moved to a different group and was let go. This place make zero sense.
No. Remember they promoted 300 MDs only to layoff most of them last Nov/Dec. I don't think anything is a sure thing at this company anymore. I would just enjoy the promotion and keep one eye open. Hopefully no one is falling into a false sense of security because that would be unwise in my opinion.
