"working with remote folks is making things less productive"
Then dell should make an effort to expand employee infrastructure, amenities, and buildings. Right?? That would be consistent at the least. But dell actually sold off land buildings and chopped amenities. They literally got out of the business of hosting employees.
"working with remote folks is making things less productive"
Sounds like a "i am going into the office so everyone should too" argument. Reminds me of the 5-vax-jabbers insisting everyone get vax for their safety as well.
Companies are GLOBAL now. Most teams work with members cross countries/language and cultures.
from what I'm told, the remote model is not working for productivity. Hearing this from managers. People that have been going into the office for a bit now are saying that working with remote folks is making things less productive than being in the office. I do hybrid and yes, I can see their point. Say what you want, but it is less productive for certain groups. NOt all groups, but if you're building a product at Dell, you need people to be there.
"city of Round Rock is giving Dell a property tax "
no. misinformation. any tax breaks are long gone. usually cities provide tax incentives for NEW businesses, buildings and companies.
You literally can look this up via the incorporation and real estate contracts available to public.
Dell wants to amortize whatever land, equipment and capital they have left for tax write offs. In order to do that they need people to RTO and use that land and capital
Yes, but that is not why employees are returning to office. The city of Round Rock is giving Dell a property tax break if the company brings people back in. The City of RR does not have economic growth in retail and restaurants because of all the wfh and there is less taxable revenue.
Yep and most of the CEO’s today have zero integrity. Imagine investing in someone or something that has such little integrity they can’t stand behind simple HR policies that they adjusted several years ago and instead of being smart and savvy, they all read from the same playbook.
In that post in particular if you read that paragraph from their CEO, the entirety of our world is remote, it’s called a global economy. Imagine if you actually understood that, instead of reading from the same handbook as Michael Dell and the other pathetic CEO’s.
Oh, BTW - “AI”. Don’t forget to throw that in your talk track.
Shocking, I know.
