Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

HR intentionally lagging on severance payout, at least that’s how it seems.

Just another example as to how useless HR is and needs to go. From reading post after post, it seems that HR is holding back on payout to either:
a.) continue to gather interest off the money instead of paying it out
or
b.) hope you’ll be desperate enough to take just any job at all (WalMart greeter) so that the severance payout would be foregone.
or
c.) you’ll be intimidated and not per-sue what’s coming to you.
I’ve not read the paper work, at least not yet anyway, but I bet its presented in a rushed hurried fashion. Just hurry up and sign it now or you get nothing.

Might I suggest you seek out legal council. If you sue, sue for your severance+legal fees+punitive damages of stress and your wasted time spent on chasing it all down.

and absolutely no one from Citi is dragging their feet whatsoever. The “not getting any money” for months, its just all a figment of your imagination.

After when you left Citi HR said “We’ll take care of it all” and gave you an official thumbs up gesture as you walked out of the door. So you see, all is well.

Y’all are just making sh-t up. You’ll get whatever severence is due when you’re supposed to get it. Getting a job doesn’t stop severance pay ( unless you go back to Citi). You don’t get severance until you’re no longer employed, so after the WARN period of 60 or 90 days.

Other bad info out there, you cannot take another job during the severence payout time. The only thing that happens is if you take another position going back to Citi during the severence payout time, you would need to pay back severence about beyond when you start again. If you go work somewhere else, that is fine and does not effect your severence $$.

I would not worry about your severance or other pay you are due. I got the boot about mid year 2023 and HR and everyone did their jobs right on time. I was weird, where after my dear john phone call, I was no longer asked to work but was on regular pay for the next month plus and then got this whopper huge check for almost a years pay, plus they paid out all personal days for the entire year even though i had not worked them. Do not panic or waste time worring about the money coming. It will arrive fine.

It’s my understanding you can’t take a job while you are employed by the company. If you do, then you will lose severance. However, 60 days (warn period in most states) past your laid off date you can start working. Anyhow, my advice to everyone DONT sign anything without meeting with an attorney.
