Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Lay it all out

I will tell you this. I have lawyers waiting and licking their lips on this purge. Its going to be a blood bath for a couple years. Any dismissals occurring with the result of contractors taking up slack will be an easy win. Enbridge better lawyer up. You may control the gas. But the MOL and OEB are govt funded. $100B or not, you will face judgement. Read up on the laws and rights folks. Union or not. We have protection. They may identify my IP sending this. Anonymous is not real here. They know.

Not sure why so negative about the company you worked for many years be glad you had and still have a job people and for those who hated it here, do us a favore and leave now so others can have the option to stay.

"and if you respond negatively - you can't handle the truth"

This kind of pre-emptive judging of anybody who disagrees with you is condescending, egotistical, and just plain counterproductive. It's about as smart as shouting, "I know you are, but what am I?" It's also about the same level of discourse.

I know you will not like to hear this - and if you respond negatively - you can't handle the truth, but if you research online your legal rights in the jurisdiction you live in, you will know what you are legally entitled to, without a lawyer taking money from you.
Enbridge will be fair and follow the law, but you can decide on your own what you are legally entitled to if you get an offer from the company, and negotiate for yourself.

People are acting like Enbridge has never laid off anyone before and don't know employment laws...their lawyers are 10x more expensive and better than anyone we could ever hire ourselves so rest assured they know what they can/cannot do legally, and are aware of what possible pathways employees may use to bring litigation onto them and likely have ways to mitigate those pathways. This ain't your local diner, Enbridge will have all their bases covered.

As long as Enbridge offers what is legally required by both law and common law then they are fine. They can terminate for any reason as long as it meets statutory requirements which they always do.

So all this lawyer talk is just nonsense. You should always consult a lawyer to make sure the offer meets requirements (again it will). After that you’re gone. You will never get your job back, just the proper severance pay.

Yeah, there's a lot of noise here. And the people who are saying their lawyer told them it's an easy win are either lying or being lied to by the lawyer. Enbridge has lawyers, and they've been doing this for a while. Don't bank on them making any catastrophic mistakes and leaving an opening for you to seize. Negotiate if you feel you have the wiggle room, but there won't be a loophole for you to run with.

Hmmmm boys and girls Enbridge has a whole department of lawyers and I am not sure which labor laws are you going to sue them against. This board had become a place for “threats” and “ego boasting” words. If you had took care of your own finances with years working at Enbridge you should be fine even without severance. Instead of whining and feeling entitled why don’t you start brushing up your skills, update your resume and start applying for a job to test if you can get some interview. If you happen to get an offer then decide if you want to pursue it or not. Be realistic about what lawsuit can bring to you and your family.

Enbridge is a huge company and your lawyer might agree for a percentage of award pay but what’s gonna happen to you if it drags on. A decade ago I heard of someone who has a lawsuit with Enbridge, a decade after and nobody still wants to hire him.

Be strategic about your moves, hire a lawyer if you want to negotiate your severance but really going to court? Not sure how deep your pocket is. Probably not deep if you’re even threatening to sue for severance.

Appreciate your spirit folks. But Enbridge is not going to put themselves in the position to be sued. They have lawyers of their own who have gone over all of this with a fine tooth comb.

From everyone I talked to. Looking at lists and crunching the odds of termination, i have approached a few lawyers. I agree! One contractor hire will justify any class action. Sounds like Enbridge better level with the driving force. I hope i see you all post purge!

Well thats nice to hear. I'm not alone. I am at risk of termination. This company is now known as the employment lawyer money maker. They are lining up for the money. Good luck folks. Hunger games. Welcome to the thunderdome. Be tough folks

I have also retained a lawyer. They agree this is an easy win. A single out sourced contractor legitimately envokes a lawsuit that will result in a reinstatement of occupancy. Whether it be a unionized hire through our contractors or other sneaky tricks. Lawsuits are thick and dirty they hopr you give up and settle. Dont. Fight for you. And the legacy behind you!
