Wow…I cannot believe how disorganized they are with this round of voluntary packages. They said in a call yesterday that it would be 2 more weeks before notifications are sent. So poorly executed for a company of this size that preaches empathy and respect.

What do you think they will do? Offer VERP to people 62+ and then layoff a bunch of people 59-61? Pure age discrimination that I think they would want to avoid.
Agreed: It is just optics for SAP at this point…VERP looks a lot better than involuntary layoffs. If they don’t hit the expected number of employees accepting VERP, they’ll just cut more headcount through the involuntary layoff process. Then they can say well we offerred good VERP terms to eligible employees first.
@7mdt+1qXEON4j - consider the opportunity cost of refusing the VERP and getting RIF-Ed with 2 weeks of pay to go… in the US that’s the calculation to consider.
If you’re 62 and only 7 years of experience, the 4 weeks a year is not much incentive.
I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong but if they want to get rid of a lot of people in a voluntary manor (2/3 of 8k is about 5300) I would think the retirement age would be lower than 62 globally.
62 by year end? Or 62 now?
@7uaq+1qXEON4j - from my own boss in the USA
I have heard 62. And I have heard 59. Note too, I would not be uncommon for Germany to have a different age than NA
@7tak+1qXEON4j - Hi, are you saying "62" based on an email you received or on something you heard?
Age threshold is 62
What’s the age they are offering it to?
@6eua+1qXEON4j
Hearing 4 weeks as well... email 15th or 16th.
Extended transition time? Meaning if we take it they won't kick us out of the door on March 31st?
Heard 4 weeks from two sources and extended transition time. Letter coming out this week.
Does anyone know if they will offer VERP in the UK?
Here’s an idea. Wait a few days and see what happens when it happens. THEN you can take a few weeks to freak out when you should be making plans….
Last years batch 3000 in 2023 in usa , only got 2 weeks per year at least if you weren’t a vp (3 weeks I believe), of course that wasn’t voluntary ! And wasn’t early retirement either …
March 31 is only 7 weeks away!
This VERP letter came out on April 12, 2017 for DBS (consulting) employees only.
Dear Eligible U.S. Employee,
SAP is constantly evolving and transforming to better serve our customers as they transition to the cloud and embrace new technologies. We in SAP Digital Business Services (DBS) are committed to this effort and remain focused on driving optimal customer outcomes.
In the spirit of these transformational efforts, DBS Leadership has approved a Voluntary Early Retirement Program (VERP) offering. A voluntary early retirement program like this one offers retirement-related incentives to employees who may already be considering retirement in the next few years.
You are receiving this email because you meet the eligibility requirements for this offering. Your window in which to consider this opportunity starts today, April 12, 2017 and runs through May 27, 2017. This program is currently being offered only to employees in the DBS board area who meet the eligibility requirements. Therefore, this communication should not be shared or forwarded to anyone.
The attached documents provide additional details about this voluntary program. Please review these materials promptly and carefully. You need to make an election no later than 5pm EST on May 27, 2017, even if you plan to decline the offer. A personalized statement, containing specific details about your offer, will be mailed to your home address shortly.
You had to be 59, Have at least 3 years of service and everyone received 3 weeks per year worked.
Any insights on if the payout will be capped on the verp. Like 3 weeks per year up to a cap of X number of weeks?
SAP most likely doesn't want to pay unemployment compensation for those over 60 as they may be paying it for a long time. So, they sweeten the offer in the hope that it won't be turned down. That, and they want to protect their reputation, especially for attracting talent. They don't want to be seen as a company that doesn't care about their long time employees. IMO
But, we'll see what's what when the letter comes out.
I don’t think they really give a cr-p about whether the VERP offers are accepted or not. Why pay someone three or four weeks for each year, when you can lay them off and pay two weeks per year? It’s all a matter of slightly improving the optics of the situation that THEY got US into. Either way, they’ll just have an HR/PR minion put some warm and fuzzy corporate double-speak spin on it….. And we’ll all feel better…If you can call losing your or wondering if you will be cut in the next round happy.
@2jag+1qXEON4j Agreed. As noted, 2 weeks is standard separation pay. 3 is unlikely to prompt acceptance… 4 might sway those who are on the fence.

A flat two year payout would not be the US. In 2019, it was 4 weeks per year and in 2017 it was 3 weeks per year worked.
All he heard about Canada was the # of weeks.
Here is the first part of 2019 letter that came out on 2/1. Children werent running HR back then.
Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to announce that SAP will offer eligible employees in the U.S. the opportunity to receive a one-time enhanced retirement benefit in order to retire from the organization through a Voluntary Early Retirement Program (VERP). SAP is offering this program as part of our regular efforts to manage our business as we continue to evolve in order to better serve our customers. A voluntary retirement program like this one offers an incentive to eligible employees who are close to retirement age and who may already be considering retirement in the next few years.
Employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 24 hours per week and who will have at least three years of service as of March 18, 2019, be at least age 59 as of December 31, 2019 and are not in an Excluded Group are eligible to participate in the VERP.
You are receiving this email because you meet all of the eligibility requirements for this offer. If you decide to participate in the program, your last active day of work will be no later than April 1, 2019 and your separation and retirement date will be April 15, 2019. This voluntary program is being offered only to employees who meet the eligibility requirements
What was the age in Canada??
Heard from a Mgr., Canada got 4 weeks per year.
Each situation is different….if your 61 and you were planning on retiring at 62 and you have 25 years of service…3 weeks per year is pretty sweet right now.
I am hearing rumors that it is a flat 2 year payout. But not sure if that's Germany or US.
In the US, three weeks is just a week more than standard separation pay... hardly incentive enough to take the package...
62 in US would su-k …I was hoping for 60 with 3 weeks per year if service
And Also keep in mind. Sap Germany employees. Have a fully funded defined benefit pension plan. Outside of 401k. Fully funded. By SAP
62 for US. 57 for Germany. Nothing official. That’s the rumor mill
Etosha is not a voice for anything. She just a LOB puppet
ISBN call yesterday with Etosha. Not sure if it was just the US but it seemed like it was a general statement so I took this as a global comment.
I’m hearing the 15th in the US.
Was this in Germany or the US?
@OP+1qXEON4j -- In what call did they say this?
