Why do the Financial Analysis roles in the USA have to do core accounting task such as preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and assists in the preparation of financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and ad hoc schedules? Other companies I have worked at have accountant roles do this type of "accounting" work.
Also now that I think about I don't think I have ever seen an accounting titled role posted at AMAT. There is not even an accounting option in the departments list on their job search page.

There are 14 finance and accounting (F&A) roles posted Santa Clara, 1 in Singapore, 2 in Taiwan, 1 in Austin.
Why aren't there F&A more roles posted in Austin?
Does it relate to the boring look of the campus, the local (F&A) culture, or the nearby trash dump?
they have to have some accountants...somewhere.
What are the other red flags there?
