If you don't mind traveling, RailPros needs flaggers and it pays really well.
I don't disagree these should be company employees but it is what it is and it pay$.
Amtrak is hiring ACs, and Cons, San Luis obispo and Los Angeles if in California.
Elsewhere on their system.

BNSF might be hiring. They just got awarded a huge shipping contract.

Sometimes RRB has jobs listed at other rr. Incase you want to stay in RRB system.
If your fairly new and not vested into the RRB, then yes find something you enjoy.
There's all kinds of good jobs that pay really well with great benefits out there. You might have to move somewhere else and it might not be in the rail industry, which is probably a good thing. Get on LinkedIn.com and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
