What will happen to people who choose remote? Will they be let go as time goes on ? Surely the best people will be kept regardless of whether they are remote or not

of course your 6 hour commute will be on your own time and expense cause you cant be paid to commute, hope you like driving
Can I drive to the office. Swipe in….wait 5 minutes, swipe out and then drive home?
It will take me 6 hrs so maybe I mark that day as my commute day????
I've worked at Dell for a long time, and two other Fortune 500 firms before that. No company wants to lose their good employees. If you are great, your boss will work with you. My bet is that policies will lighten up 18 months from now if the company is doing well. You just have to figure out if you want to wait that long and take that risk.
If Dell is doing poorly, then being remote will hurt you.
People who choose remote will not have any future at all, no possibility for promotions etc. But you have some time to get out if you choose remote, I'd guestimate 12-18 months, at the most.
"It's literally in the FAQ that hybrid, field and onsite people will have an advantage over remote resources during "organizational planning exercises"
Notice how the part about organizational planning exercises was NOT in the drawback section of the email but is listed in the FAQ? Some shady a** stuff that theyre hoping some people wont see that in the FAQ
read in-between the lines for the FAQ -- >
You have apply to "remote" in March even if you are remote now. For 99% this would be approved, however, if you were marked "talent-concern" is work day, or your manager hates you - then you won't be approved.
I assume that means you show up at the office or they wfr you
I do my job, the job of my teammate they WFR'd, and half the job of the teammate who is quiet quitting.
If I have to drive into work and sit in traffic, find a shared workspace with a keyboard that works, eat my brown bag lunch because there's no cafe, use the single sheet TP in the restrooms, fake smile when I interrupted by people who just want to get out the their house to avoid children or a spouse, I'm going to be less productive...It's not rocket science.
It's literally in the FAQ that hybrid, field and onsite people will have an advantage over remote resources during "organizational planning exercises". HR speak for layoffs. So, they may not do mass layoffs of remote employees, but it will be taken into consideration when they are making these decisions...
The best will be let go or leave on their own. The professional butt kissers will be dellapalegic lifers
Yes, those on remote will likely be very high on the list of people which will be let go once the next round of layoffs will happen. Definitely in endangered territory
