Could somebody please share an experience? Getting a job is not easy in this environment. I have a job offer. Should I take it, as my new employer cannot wait until my transition period ends? At this junction, I don't want to lose the severance, and I am also concerned about what will happen if I don't get another job post-transition. My VMware Managers has also deserted me since last August. Those has become completely spineless. I can not trust or respect them.

If you want to eventually get GC leave Broadcom asap.
Pretty much all GC processes that were underway at VMware are paused at BC. Some have even been told that they will have to wait 12 months from the acquisition date before BC will consider restarting their GC process.
I think this is very simple decision and depends on what you value more.
If job security is important to you, take the job. If money is more important, stay and take the package
Sounds like an easy decision, accept the job. If you are US based the severance package isn't that good anyway.
Take the job. Transition bonus is only money and is designed to help the company, not you. Your new job will pay you a salary and offer stability. Contrary to what Hock spouts, money is not everything. Stability, working conditions and work/life balance are all just as important.
If you got another job offer and they are willing to sponsor you, then take the new job. It's probably more secure. You'll miss out on the severance, but at least you'll have less pressure on your mind to find another job before 60 days. You'll always earn money in the future, but at least you'll be able to sleep comfortably at night with no worries about a secure job.
What's more important to you, visa sponsorship or severance?
Take the offer. It's a sure thing: it gives you a H1b sponsor and income. BC will not sponsor H1b's for people on transition.
I want to end the h1-b
