Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

How is UP one of world's most admired companies?

How much do you think we pay every year to have Fortune include us on that list? This is a company that treats its employees like trash, lays off even in times when we are having the best results we've ever had, doesn't give a damn about safety, and somehow it's one of the most admired companies? Man, our PR budget must be huge!

That article was bought and paid for by the UP. One year ago, the UP was the front-runner for worst employer title again. Then magically becomes one of the world's most admired companies? No I don't think so.

Do some research on who or what company publishes these articles. They are shells made by UP.

The people that UP polled for this were not employees, it’s that simple. Another propaganda piece from Uncle Pete.

The only people who could ever admire UP as a company are the same kind who thought it was okay to buy kidnapped people. Thought it was okay to force those kidnapped people to work. They also thought it was also okay to take all the fruits of those forced to work to then only enrich themselves and they themselves to live a life of ease and luxury bcuz they were somehow entitled to be rich from others hard work. Before some manager claims none of us are forced to be here remember this. Thousands of us were here decades ago. We were started into a system for our and our spouses retirement. We have slowly been given more and more heavier and heavier work loads and responsibilities. Through no negotiations we are held hostage and therefore forced into doing the work 3-5 employees used to do for the same retirement or the choice we have is to quit meaning we (and our families) lose certain tier 2 benefits and / or we will have our full retirement delayed by up to 7 years. We did not agree to this. What has been done to us is a form of economic entrapment.

That article is a joke. stUPid railroad - most admired company, my a-s! Most of the people, and now that also includes managers, hate this place. Recently, I hear again, guys with over 10-15y in service thinking about finding another employer. Can't blame them. There is no future here unless you are in management position and you like to su-k and swallow. That's what they like.

I read that article and just laughed! It’s fake news, bought and paid for, I use to get bent out of shape over things like that, now I just laugh because it’s so preposterous.

It’s made up. What was true is that UP was the 2x worst company to work for champion. I’d be curious to see if we’re still in the top 10.
