I quit UP 4 yrs. ago, the best thing that has ever happened to me. I work normal dayshift hours and weekends off. I make the same amount of money and overtime is an option. Retirement and benefits are comparable. There are jobs out there other than UP. You can say I'm stupid...... much smarter than you because the only job you can hold is at the railroad. I took the opportunity to better my life. Not having to come on some website to find out if my location is going to furlough. Move on guys, get a new job. Don't be a wu-sy. Stay there, lose your job. Stay there, stress out everyday. Yell at your wife, kids, cat.

@2edk-Did you type your post on a company computer so that the upper management can see you defending them? Keep on drinking that koolaid.

@jv, quit worrying about the managers and just do your job. Most of the managers are in the same boat as you….the real enemy are the executives and board of directors. Everyone is at their mercy.
I work at Dollar General, and I’m much happier now.

If we could only get the managers to quit…….one can only hope and dream of a day when there is less management and then the craft employees will truly be “empowered”.
