Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Is this place worth working for anymore? This is the first round of many more days like this to come. This inept group won’t get it right.

Unbelievable what this leadership group is doing to the mental health of the workers. A month to find out if your world will be turned upside down? Even animals get the courtesy of a shot to the head to put them out of their misery. Can’t even get the humane shot to the head right. A whole month to cannibalize our fellow workers to show how valuable our work is . It’s like a sick gladiator game and ELT gets to watch us and enjoy the show, while they wait for their multimillion stock option payout .

Enbridge is working on the Sears plan. They are going to squeeze every last value out of the assets before folding and letting others pick up the damage. (Failed Pensions, environmental cleanup, etc). Most of the assets have been inflated above their actual value, and every cent against that over inflated value has been leveraged. Realistically oil/gas assets are going to become harder operate (more regulation), fewer companies through consolidation are available to buy the overvalued assets and load is being shed, either through heat pumps on the gas side or EVs on the liquid. I agree oil/gas will never completely go away, but it will reduce and with it the value of the aging assets will to. Enbridge keeps buying selling and shifting debt around but eventually they will miss a dividend raise, then the vultures will extract a toll. I dont think the assets will be ripped out of the ground, but the debt ridden husk of Enbridge will be left behind and the assets will be picked up by the remaining players. Enbridge doesnt have a cohesive plan to move to the future, just keep shuffling the deck chairs and deny the ship is listing.

The only company worth working for is the one you personally own. I have no allegiance to any company anymore. They all (Enbridge included) show no respect to us, so they won't get any from me.

"If you not happy leave now, you will safe a spot for others, thanks"

This will not save a spot according to HR.

ENB hasn't been worth working for in quite some time. The constant stress of when (not if) the next round of layoffs will happen isn't worth it. The exes have shown time and time again that they don't care about us. Sad but true.

Whew let’s not bring politics in here. But since you mentioned it, is it not some government jurisdiction has the lowest tax bracket for companies hoping to encourage employment but instead companies are getting their pockets even more fatter?

to the person who wrote: "federal governments green agenda is destroying our sector"

I would have to agree with that. The problem is the alternate party to vote for is way too far on the right when it comes to other issues so voting for them is not an option unfortunately.☹

Maybe if they came back towards the centre they could get elected and this sector could be saved?

I agree with the last reply, there’s really no right way to do it and it’s always gonna be difficult. For some it will be more especially hard if your financial situation is less ideal.

You can’t really avoid layoffs wherever you work these days, just google the sites that tracks layoff across North America and you will see that it had been happening since last year. And the name of the game is mostly “cost efficiencies”.

All you can do is prepare, bring home all personal stuff on your desk, clean your work computer with personal files. Get your financial house in order or whatever makes you feel a little more comfortable. Nobody is guaranteed a lifetime employment.

There's no right way to do this. There's just varying degrees of wrong.

No notice? Heartless. Give us time to prepare! Notice? Heartless. Yours destroying our mental health.

Because it's an inherently difficult process, no matter how you approach it, some will find fault. There is no magical formula where everybody suddenly says, "Oh yeah, they nailed it."

Maybe instead of blaming the company, people could start paying more attention to how the federal governments green agenda is destroying our sector.

If you dont like it , leave now its a motto, every restructuring comes with lay offs no matter where you work, stop the negativity especially when you worked here for manyvyears shame on you all talking about the company who took care od you in a bad manner.

So not worth working for. So much bloat and dysfunction, but quite sure I don’t trust our leadership to get it right.

No ELT in any company is worth a damn. Get rid of those VP's and EVP's and the company will do just fine. They don't need the money like us working stiffs do. I'm in the states (think Texas Eastern or Algonquin) and haven't heard anything at all. I bet NDA's got sent out like with the VWO.
