There are reports of Managers bullying their bar raising direct reports into Pivot when they dare attempt to transfer. If you plan on internally transferring teams, then have an external job offer ready, and immediately resign if you're refused the transfer. This bullying is another silly trick that Amazon is using to inflate their financials - forcing you to leave when you try to innocently transfer teams.

Speak with the hiring manager - some (the good ones) will work with you to get the process going so your current manager can't retaliate. And if the hiring manager isn't willing to help, then you know they are likely a manager you don't want to work for.
