You get Severence afyer the WARN period ( 60 or 90 days after last working day).
Its a tactic to hold off on the severance payouts for as long as they can. The hope is that you’ll be desperate to take just any job at all.
Make sure to have them clarify by when you will receive your severance pay. Don’t let them get away with a vague timeline. This is happening to someone I know who was laid off from Citi. This person has been waiting 3 months and they still haven’t paid out the severance. The response from HR is “we will process severance payments when they have time.”
I was told the detailed severance papers will be provided on or before your nonworking period.
