I know given our current state that Gas Distribution in Ontario is getting slapped the hardest. I know that everyone is at risk but does anyone have any actual information on the departments that will get hit the hardest and/or which ones are somewhat safe(if any).

Say goodbye to Engineering, Integrity and Asset Management. Benchmarking against all other companies puts them at 400% overstaffed. And I haven’t seen much if anything done by them in years,
Stay close to the pipe!!
Ops and TFS will suffer casualties to be sure but being as they are safety sensitive I’d asume the cuts will be less destructive than other areas, especially with the emails stating the determination to reinvest in our existing assets.
I’d be heavily concerned if I was in construction and especially community expansion. Just an educated guess. Nothing to support it.
What should get slashed:
Clear some house in central engineering, crazy how out of date and out of touch the policies and designs are that dribble out of there at a glacial pace.
the rebasing team clearly sploffed it up the wall with what they submitted, same thing with asset management.
Bunch of other departments that are far away from the actual work should get a snip but looking at the internal postings they're hiring a an entire team of E500+ brand advisors or supervisors lol so its probably going to be regional cuts in ops or ops adjacent, merging regions into one etc.
Branding is certainly important especially in this environment but guarantee those jobs are just all day in meetings positions.
Take your position and view it from outside- what do you actually do day in day out? Does what you do matter in the grand scheme? If you have some pretend-a-job with tons of time for various meetings and volunteer committees, what do you think?
I don’t think these layoffs are as result of the OEB decision in Ontario. Yes it is a harsh reality for ENB in Ontario, but I doubt these corporate decisions were made solely because of this decisions. I don’t think anyone is safe only because we have the element of unknown against us.
in Ontario the safety dept is not even safe
