Why can't people understand that layoffs are a fact of life at Walgreens and that they should always be anticipated? If you want job security, this is not the place where you will find it. I know most are upset we're having cuts once again, so am I. But people who are saying this was a surprise must have been intentionally ignoring the writing on the wall.

BAHAHHAHA.
There were more than 3 rounds. Mostly due to digital transformation (which could have been avoided by budgeting and implementing over time instead of plunging in all at once).
Also, why would they wait years to look at duplication of jobs (from merger’s & acquisitions) instead of factoring it into the process much earlier on.
Cutting costs to pay for a 10 year consulting firm contract.
Also. Doing a full blown digital transformation instead of budgeting and implementing over time.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg
Lack of a pre-planned employee career path to help people learn and grow into the new company direction. Instead , left to employees to figure out what they want to do and provide minimal training for it and often discouraged it by pulling back the minimal training budget to cut costs.
They're looking through rose colored glasses.
It’s these layoffs coupled with the completely stupid decisions enabled by the board. That’s what gets to me.
Layoffs can happen at any company. What sets Walgreens apart is the company's complete disregard for its employees.
Because three different rounds of major layoffs in the course of a year is abnormal for any company. And looking at the history of Walgreens, it is fairly abnormal here too.
