Serious talent is leaving Ireland

Many colleagues leaving in my team, struggling to comprehend how the team will function soon because it’s a major major blow to our staffing

Serious talent is leaving Ireland???
Let’s please define that phrase.
Cork skated for over 11 years. All the while they had free time to go get certificates, have children (While getting paid), and do basically nothing except give us that incompetent crooked tooth id--t and du----s (J Dolan) and leave the heavy lifting to the US.
I think these posts are hilarious.

Have 2 weeks left in Ireland then gone with redundancy. Most of the team in my support function will be gone. Times will be tough for customers and remainers.

I'm hoping they have learned their lesson from Ireland and revised offers if needed ....

Broadcon's business model is to make money, not have employees.

If there are no workers, understand that there is no problem in charging sticky customers a hefty premium to re-release software with only the copyright & company name changed.

Here endeth the lesson.

Finding out this week who is choosing to leave is a worry. Alot of leadership is leaving which puts local site at more risk. Alot of global leadership for certain areas were also based in Ireland. The future of the site is more at risk, no one to fight it's corner against lower cost or alternative locations. That along with the serious engineer talent and knowledge about to walk out the door. Regret decision to stay while package on offer was good. Hope I'm proved wrong. In the mean time getting ready for alot more uncertainty.

Huge kudos and respect to Irish Team ! You are as a group forced BC to fold and re-negotiate! well, at least for now... imo later on they will add more head count in Bangalore but it will take some time...

They tell us we must return to the office, then have the absolute nerve to complain about how noisy it is around here!

And boy, do they save money.

Boy howdy, do they.

The newly renovated building where your team is moving will have even lower height cube partitions because Broadcon has not put the glass extender on the top of the wall.

Say goodbye to any ability to concentrate.
Say goodbye to any privacy.

Say hello to looking up and staring at the animal in the pen facing you.

Exactly it’s not serious talent in the world of IT today. VMware tech is legacy and in decline. All those lot need to skill up on modern architectures

It's' very bad here in the US, most everyone is looking to get out.

There isn't a superlative strong enough to describe how bad it is. The really odd corporate decisions keep coming, demonstrating to us that Broadcon has no idea how to run a software company that is producing the top tier product in its industry. Broadcon wants total uniformity in all operations, whether or not it makes sense because uniformity saves money. And boy, do they save money. The campus and buildings are getting a rundown look from lack of upkeep.

Staying at Broadcom and working from office is lucrative.
Thank you lazy Exes for continuing your future in your homes.

Yeah I've been moved to the detriment of my old function. Not being funny but I don't know how they'll manage as I was the only one doing my role in which I liaised with several teams and Geos.
It's an absolute shambles.
Will I remain? Will I get moved back? Will teams be reconfigured again. There's so much uncertainty when things are being decided by people who are not used to how cogs fit together.
Not sure I did the right thing by staying but here goes nothing...

After 11.5 years in VMW in Ireland, I decided to decline my offer and take the severance package. I know a lot of long-termers like myself have chosen to leave, but equally after the 2nd offer came out with the extra RSUs and the promise to keep the same severance package for a year a lot decided to stay. They were always on the fence though, so that 2nd offer nudged them to stay. I truly hope they made the right decision to stay though. It's not going to be the same company at all after March 1st when all the new policies kick in. Yes we'll be taking our knowledge & experience away with us, but there's still plenty of experienced engineers staying on, there will need to be an amount of consolidation and re-grouping though for sure. Best of luck to those staying, there are opportunities to be had for sure, so seek them out and make the most of them.

It's clear those who stay will get burned until someone at broadcom understands that talent and support it's a thing to take into account

OP here, regretting my decision to stay, if I knew the amount of people leaving I’d have chosen different. Because I’m going to get fu---d ..,
