Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Laid Off Employees or Those Who Quit - Where did you land after 2u?

Spreading some hope for the anxious folks. I was laid off in September. Two months later, I got a new job and a 20k pay bump. Took a little bit of grinding but 2u feels like a bad dream now. Any other stories?

I was let go last year. I spent 4 months in a part time role before finding my next full-time opportunity. It’s not work from home but it is 20 minutes from my house, a positive team environment and I got a 20k a year bump! It took some major searching in this job market but I ended up so much better off. I am so thankful everyday that I got out of that toxic situation and landed in a job at a company that doesn’t feel slimy

I posted earlier about increasing my salary by 44k - I neglected to mention that I left for a traditional univeristy (on campus position). No work from home - but they pay for my commute so...

Just a thought that you may want to look into community colleges or universities, if you can.

been looking since October actively applying to jobs every day and have yet to land anything other than tons of rejection letters. can't believe it's already coming up on 5 months of searching

To those bracing for a transition (layoff, quitting, he-l... even a well-deserved career-break), know that there are SO MANY education companies out there. I know the feeling of 2U su-king you in and making you feel like it's this and there is nothing else.

Trust me when I say... your skills are transferrable, you will find a mission-driven company with half of a backbone (I say only half because all will still choose profits over saving you if given the option), and if you apply yourself and seek out the right resources, you will find something in less than 6 months.

It's a challenging job market and job transitions are hard, but it is always that way when you come from a major company within a niche market. Know that brighter days are ahead and that some days may feel darker and harder than you expected, but transition is necessary to get to something new. Ride the wave you're on and know that your job, 2U, and all of its baggage are not permanent.

Still looking unfortunately. Really debating on whether to look outside my chosen career path and try something new.

I quit very recently from admissions and just secured a career coach position at my local university. Decrease in salary, increase in integrity

Went from making $55k as a bootcamp advisor pretending I wasn’t in sales to making ~200k selling Land Rovers. Sales still isn’t my thing but at least I’m not lying to myself anymore, and the money is nice

2U became my side gig several years ago. In the beginning I was all in, but they never valued my opinion. I did begin to see my ideas show up later though, so I decided to boot them to second job status. I got a real corporate job and I would see what a joke 2U was since I was able to see inside of how a real corporation works. I still gave feedback using the corporate insider knowledge, but fell on deaf ears because they see me as a peon. But now I just do my work not providing and insights, ideas, dont pick up side projects, etc. Am I bragging? No. I have a family and scared I won't be able to take care of them. My point is....always have more than one source of income. Good luck to all trying to survive in this country.

I launched a business and work for myself now. I feel better than I ever did working at that POS company and have no regrets since separating from that sh!thole. Trust, life is too short to endlessly chase money and promotions at selfish corporations like 2U. I know how it feels to be stuck there, but this may be your opportunity to take a chance too!

Unemployment. I've applied for 160 jobs since October, no luck yet.

Any AC’s with good news? Don’t specific if you’re not comfortable, just like industry and role titles work.

I'm up 44,000 $ per year since leaving that place in 2019. I am also 300% happier.

There is definitely hope.

I was laid off from a realty company back in Sept 2022 from an IT Service Desk position. I moved to an east coast state and it took me 6 months to find a job. My new job they are doing a back-to-office mandate and now I'm looking for a job again.
