Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Dublin Office

As someone that missed a lot of the consultation meetings due to PTO, I was told all the information from my managers and colleagues before accepting my offer letter.

I need to know, when Broadcom said no return to office mandate for Ireland. Did that sound like a permanent plan, or something that was subject to change? I don’t mind either way, but why are regional leaders silently pushing for return to office in Ireland if there is no RTO mandate?

Are you being serious? Have you truly been attentive to the discussions and information shared over the past weeks and months? By accepting the offer, BC retains the freedom to dictate various aspects, such as weekend commitments, covering NASA shifts in EMEA. If you're located in Ireland, it's mandated that you work from the office for at least a few days each week. Do you believe you're unaffected by this if you live three hours away from the office? Perhaps watching the X-Files would help you comprehend the significance of "trust no one" in this context.

I was on PTO for most of these consultation meetings but guess what I did, I joined the calls because they were important to me. They were not work meetings.

Same. This wasn't just to discuss if we rename Aria back to vCAC or call it bulshit instead. It had something to do with my future so yea - despite PTO I joined them.

Already lots of managers in UK&I ‘suggesting’ their staff RTO for at least two days per week, despite the communications around not needing to based on proximity or what was in your contract.

Broadcom staff were required to go into an office during the pandemic.

Recall what HT said in the coffee chats.

Take from that what you will……..

Should have read your letter before signing!

Permanent offers called out subject to change.
Transition letters did not.

Because you are paid to work in office.
Leaders will fire you if no RTO.
WFH era is over.
