Walgreens is a sinking company, it's down 70% value in the last five years, terrible management and the turnover in managment doesn't change the results. Whether it is in the so called home office or the stores it's just a terrible environment. These district managers that go into stores, need to check their ego's at the front door. They are just overpaid puppets that come into stores and say do this do that when they and their upper management have ruined this company. As for the ones in the home office, seriously why do you stay. What will it take for people to wake up. That is no way to live in an environment like that.

I left Walgreens voluntarily months ago and it's the best decision I made. I encourage those who are reluctant for a change to put them big pa-ties on and just go for it.
I’m the one who wrote that it’s hard to look for a job while you have a job. Because it is. Because I’ve been there. Obviously if you’re not happy you are going to start looking. ImBut it is NOT easy. Job hunting takes time and energy and it’s really tough to burn the candle at both ends. So have bit of compassion for those that are still in jobs they’re not crazy about. In your own words, “COME ON”.
To the one that said it is hard to look for a job when employed. THAT IS WHEN you look for a job instead of waiting to get layed off and then having to look. COME ON.
It’s really hard to look for a job when you’re currently employed. Especially if you’re in a situation like Walgreens with a boss breathing down your neck, scheduling meetings when you have time blocked and demanding your time on evenings and weekends. It takes time to find something new and it also doesn’t help for interviews when you’re constantly stressed out and miserable. I started looking a good 6 months before Walgreens laid me off. And after I was laid off, I was working again within 3 months at a far better company and with the same title and compensation.
Why do I come to this page still? I guess to try to encourage those who are currently in the su-ky scenario that I was in not too long ago. There is life after Walgreens…a much better one.
Would be great once we officially return to the office if we could al band together and start acting up to gain some control back. They walk all over us and u til we push back things won’t change. I want my merit increase - they have shown time and again they have money laying around for all sorts of things. I would love to see what true value Roz $375k per month consulting is yielding back to the business. And also why do we hire a ceo that doesn’t even live in Illinois? We talk such a big game that we are a sustainable company yet we have Tim flying back and forth on the private corporate jet weekly - wasteful and ridiculous.
Op - well said! I ask myself the same question everyday why I continue to stay. I guess a good answer is the fear of the u known. As much of a dumpster fire this place is at the support office I worry that leaving won’t be better. The news continues to report other companies are laying people off. Not sure there is anywhere safe to go right now. So i wait and hope that once we all go back to the office they will see how miserable everyone is and maybe things will go back to remote again- probably wishful thinking on part. I keep focusing on the fact that they told everyone no merit increases because they didn’t have the money but they had 12 million to re purchase the building, clearly tons of money for monitors and equipment their equipment that was removed and thrown in trash dumpsters during Covid. It’s disheartening and a su---r punch to see how we are treated. Why do they constantly lie to our faces? One of my leaders lies constantly its to the point where anything they say I think the opposite because they have lost all credibility. But then they sling the cr-p we have an open door policy, this is a safe space….yeah sure. I’m so beat down I don’t even know which way is up anymore but too afraid to get into another company that could possibly be even worse. Feeling hopeless.
People stay for a variety of reasons. Not easy for everyone to find a replacement job that will actually be better. Many who stay hope it will get betterat Walgreens but it probably won't. We just learned that there will be even more micro-managing in our LOB. That should push more people to leave. I don't think our "leadership" has any clue how disengaged our workforce is or how to properly motivate our "team members". It does appear the ship is sinking so expect actions by Walgreens to get more desperate. The culture at Walgreens absolutely su-ks but our leaders make no effort to improve it.
