Having been intimately involved with bonuses in the past, they were virtually guaranteed. It reached the point were they were really more base salary than ‘incentive bonus’. When the E&P groups had stand alone targets, rules were stretched to ensure no one got shutout (esp the Expl group.)

Stock price in the toilet, targets missed, debt enormous and liabilities growing.

Rewarding failure is why we’re in this mess! By the definition of “bonus” none should be paid out, across any level of the organisation.
