Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

How will the union respond

We know there's no layoffs before letting contractors go per the CBA. Plus, we know Enbridge are a formidable anti-union organization. So who wins? The irresistible force or the immovable object?

Blaming office people for what,?! See who pays you on time, see who takes care of your benefits, see who takes care of your pension, see who replies when you habe concerns and the list goes on and on and on, you think office people are bored, why dont we switch and see how many days you last full time in a chair vs office people in field!?. Btw seen many field employee jerks driving drunk amd been kick out for it. Hmmm Enbridge is still great unfortunately all restructuring comes with lay offs of those who dont fit anymore due to not being able to adapt to changes,. Dont want anyone to leave but it is what it is move on, find a company thay meets your standards, as from all these negatives sounds like you hate working in Enbridge so go move on amd be happy again.

ToddPacker, while I agree with you, I was only referring to office staff and not management.

I heard that in our union that any union office staff with a seniority date that is after 2017 is on the block.

To the reply below-

Management absenteeism is an absolute joke, might not be coded sick time but lets see who's numbers are worse

Unionized employees are way more abusive of sick time than office staff.

Most likely this round of layoff will affect your busy looking office workers but actually sleeping on the job or watching movies. Some of them are very abusive of company benefits, even using sick leave for hang overs. Trim your support groups and get them to actually do some work.

Want to save money Mr. Big Boy Enbridge? Go after the call center employees making $40+ per hour.

Which union in Ontario? Most are so lean on field staff that I don't see it happening.

Will the layoff be effecting union employees in Ontario? Has anyone heard anything?

I know of some pretty useless low seniority employees with bad attitudes in our union who could use a good bump

The only win-win in the union environment is to offer up packages to long tenured employees. There are a lot (not all) of senior union employees that just take up space anyway!

Nobody wins. Organization loses valuable people and will leave lots fighting to find more work.
