Will the new RTO policy make you start looking for a job elsewhere or are you just gonna deal with it?

Thanks for your take Dorothy! ;-)
Glad RTO is coming back, I'm sure San Jose office is having a fit.
RTO, where is the problem? They track you only when someone enters the office, not when someone leaves.
RTO sounds good to me, free coffee and snacks!!
ICT is where Dorothy and Toto are from.
Sorry to ask, but what’s ICT?
Like I said, ICT employees don't mind RTO. We've been doing this since 2022. Other NetApp locations, like Santana Row hardly anyone goes in. It's a lot more expensive to lease space in San Jose but I don't see corporate offices moving.
I'm a netapp ICT employee and we've been doing 2 days RTO for a few years now, it still feels like a nice luxury and benefit to have those 3 days at the home office, but I like the variety and getting out 2 days a week too. My main concern if this is just the first step back to full time RTO, which would make me look elsewhere for work: but worried if all employers jump that at the same time, as there will be no outlets apart from starting a home business!
I can post a post and post a reply to that post as well. ICT employees do care about RTO.
Agree with the previous poster, ICT employees don't mind RTO.
I believe ICT folks are not complaining about new RTO policy. Other sites will have problems with RTO, San Jose, PTC, to name a few.
The best employees are the most likely to leave over return-to-office mandates, new survey says.
If you force workers to come back to the office, be ready to possibly lose your highest-performing employees, according to this new study.
High-performing employees are more easily able to pursue opportunities at organizations that offer hybrid or fully remote policies.

There are so many self important people on here acting like they are too good to put your grownup pants back on and leave the house. I would bet that at least half the people complaining about RTO are fooling around with side projects. Also, the 25 mile radius is a direct path, not driving distance. Good luck in your future ventures.
The number of people coming up with roundabout routes to push their homes more than a 25 mile drive is hilarious.
Ne bellyaching here, I only ask that they put the cubes back up. Some of us speak directly to customers and don't need to bother others on our calls.
" I guess we must comply with the new mandate for folks in ICT. No issues here."
... because we just wasted a lot of money on a new building and we all live in the same small town.
ya but your CISO will drive down from his lake house 3 hours each way once a week to make it seem like he's compliant.
You don’t have to say it out loud. They’re following the game plan that AWS GCP ETC all followed a year ago.
It’s only like a 20 min commute for me so it’s not the end of the world. It still su-ks having to get up earlier, put pants on, and deal with getting the kids ready.
I would probably be much more pi---d off if I had to sit in traffic for over an hour each way.
Look, we all know this isn’t about collaboration. It’s about real estate costs and potentially trying to force some voluntary attrition.
But no CEO is going to say the quiet part out loud.
I think those having to return to the office will feel better once remote employees start being affected for not living close to an office. Which will eventually come. Like any other tech company we’ve seen go down this road.
If I have to go back to the office I can't double dip any more and my boss needs to drive in from his lake house.. Oh well that's life. No more 249k a year combined earnings.
@1mzw+1qPcWufV Don’t assume all those jobs are legit. And the ones that are remember you’re competing with people all over the country or even the world. And with tech layoffs continuing think of how many new applicants there are. I’m not saying we have to love the RTO policy, just that the grass isn’t always greener…
Already started looking. Surprised how many 100k+ fully remote jobs are out there. Salaries are much higher nowadays and they didn’t give me raises to keep up.
There is still a hiring freeze or slowdown at netapp. All the talk I hear is how we can’t afford things internally. Company has (sadly) been a sinking ship for many years with a drunk captain throwing things overboard to keep the boat afloat, blaming the ocean instead. I think they are well aware RTO will cause some people to leave and that’s part of the plan.
Bad leadership runs deep at netapp. So many useless upper and middle managers. Every year they somehow remain bleeding this company dry instead of improving things. They got lonely at home and need someone to kick around.
Productivity improved working from home and hasn’t stagnated. Instead of keeping that momentum going or improving it, they want to go back to how it was years ago. Hilarious…a data company not making decisions based on data.
I guess we must comply with the new mandate for folks in ICT. No issues here.
If you think you can land a good job while other companies doing massive layoffs, sure go ahead, otherwise do your job, remotely or not, right?
Luckily I'm not part of the 25 mile crew but if I was I was definitely prepared to look for a new job.
Folks were already starting to come back in the office in decent numbers from what I see. I would question the heavy hand of a mandate and the overhead needed to micro manage badge rates and compare that to who is remote vs 25+ miles etc.. been at a company that did that before (prior to Covid) and it was like a cancer. That is all folks talked about all the time. I even saw employees pooling badges to get other folks to swipe for them. It is just a lot of noise…
What a great time to be a fully remote employee. Although it makes me worry for future layoffs.
