Yeah a little underwhelmed

Sounds like they have made arrangements with unions as well. Trying to thin down the over crowded USR position.
Nobody is safe
Will start Feb 1st and go all the way to March 1st, they already handing out letters as we speak. Get a lwyer no matter what before tou sign anything, as they just bought 3000 employees from USA and gettin rid of the long terms ... hmmmm. See it not fair at all. Fight for your rights people.
My guess is that Calgary staff will be hit hardest.
So how will this effect managers STIP this year, and will they admit they shouldn't get bloated bonuses in times of crises? Or are they going off the basis of its the 2023 fiscal year and layoff are 2024.
When I was let go some years ago. I hot a phone call from an office person asking me to come on for a meeting. I knew what was going on. I met two HR people, was offered to keep my phone after it was wiped and outside a taxi was waiting for me. Believe it or not, I think I was treated well out the door.
I think the email said completed by March 1. It didn't say when it would start. No point in waiting while morale sinks lower and lower. I bet it starts asap.
Announcing this earlier might drive some people to leave on their own, company can save on not paying the severance.
Is that 650 on top of the existing vacancies?

Published yesterday. Seriously.
Lived through so many of these travesties at companies. Makes a great argument for living within your means and becoming debt free. No loyalty anymore in the corporate world.
Layoffs will impact the dead weight and non performers. Ahh wait.. those will be fine as they're buddies with the directors and vps. Instead.. all you valuable employees will be let go and managed services will take your spot for double the costs at least 150 an hour.
But hey.. head count reduction right??
Let the backstabbing begin!
Announcing this up to a month early feels cruel. Now many people are going to wonder if each phone call or text is “the call from HR”.
Good luck, and may the odds ever be in your favor....💋
looking at the wording of the email, I believe the field should be pretty safe. office folks are gonna be getting axed pretty hard, and looking at the language of the email they have a particular appetite for contract employees
It would have been smarter to just give a weeks notice, no reason the process should drag on.
I'm curious which departments will be hit the hardest.
to be honest I kinda appreciate the gesture. announcing with a months notice is giving people time to plan. I'll be taking full advantage.
What do you all think, will it mainly be the Ontario offices where the most recent OEB decision has an impact, or all over Enbridge?
What’s the point of announcing now and not finishing till march. Just announce and let it rip by end of week. Going to be just gossiping, runours and anxiety till end of month now.
