Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Who's still under consultation?

Which countries are still under consultation?

Ireland found out last week.
The UK is next week.
Spain is March I'm informed.

What about the other EU countries and there workers councils. France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Austria and Poland. When do they find out there fate?

Italy is under consultation, 24% of employees affected.

Austria and Switzerland (no worker protection by law at all) are done with very few not accepting offers (under 20%). Germany is a different story, with hugely blown up work force and leadership levels plus strong workers council. But: last time German workers council tried to oppose and stall post acquisition consolidation, HT closed the whole country org down (ask CA Germany).

Belgium started firing before Christmas . But they do it piecemeal to avoid the consultation required by labor legislation. Next round is expected in the second half of February

The French sued BC and their even more bureaucratic neighbors the Germans will take very long as well. My estimate is mid Summer this year.

Employee protection is the most protective in these 2 countries within the EU.

The only thing I could think of is that they make a ridiculously high severance offer where the workers councils will just agree to.

Poland and Austria are already done.
Some other countries in Central Europe as well.
Bulgaria is happening right now
People getting let go were already informed and the severance package negotiations are over.
Not sure about the other ones.
