Keeping yourself busy will not make you safer. All thing are decided by higher level.
Until all is settled down, better to put more time on interview preparation.
If you are doing nothing and getting paid then use the time to prepare and interview. If you are doing nothing then your manager would know that and that means you are probably going to get laid off sooner or later. Or spinned off /sold. BC does not keep people around who are not doing anything. You should have learned that by now. Only reason why you are still around is because they are in process of making decisions.
Bug fix? Documentation? Training others? Sharpening your skills? Optimize your codes? Improve your physical health?
